We are affected by literary texts in various ways because texts can contain various meaningful life lessons that can change our way of thinking. We are impacted by TTTC because we experience a look into O'Brien's life changing experience of being in the Vietnam war and how it changes our understanding of the war itself and what the soldiers went through.

Meaning is constructed, negotiated, expressed and interpreted in multiple ways in TTTC through imagery, anecdotes, symbolism and many other rhetorical devices.




4. How does the structure of style of TTTC affect its meaning?
The structure of style of TTTC affects its meaning because the whole novel is expressed through vignettes which contains anecdotes of what O'Brien experienced and because it's from his own experiences it affects its meaning because it expresses what he saw, felt, smelled, and heard in his experiences. 

We approach literary texts from different times and cultures to our own by understanding beforehand how different times and cultures are to our own and what was normal back then or in that culture does not mean it is normal nowadays or in another culture.

Literary texts offer insight into another culture to a great extent. Because literary texts give a personal look into that culture, it gives insight on what happens in that culture and what are considered the norms that could be explained in the literary texts. Without literary texts, we wouldn't know anything about another culture if we weren't already apart of it or experienced it ourselves.

The meaning and impact of a literary texts over time because a literary text could be nonexistent in terms of popularity during the time it was created but afterwards, it could become very popular because the impact of whatever happened during that time can be shown in the literary text and have a great impact on the readers that weren't able to experience that time period.

The style of a literary text affects meaning because it shows how ideas are embodied in language. In Morrison's novel, her use of stream-of-consciousness, shifting points of view, and us of analepsis and prolepsis has a huge impact on the meaning of Beloved because it reflects what Morrison wanted the meaning of the novel to be.

Time and Space

The cultural context to the production and reception of a literary text is very important. The Fugitive Slave Act has a huge impact on the creation and reception of Beloved because it allows readers to understand what motivates the characters to behave as they did in Beloved and feel the emotions that characters such as Paul D and Sethe felt when they escaped slavery during the time of when the act was in place.

The novel specifically addresses issues of gender, writing and power by giving voice to the thoughts of Sethe, Denver, and Beloved and amplifies their voices. The style of shifting narrative voice between the three women gives an equal opportunity to express what each women is feeling and experiencing which without the structure of the narratives the reader would not have known what was going through the characters' minds during events in the novel.
