One aspect of the agreement was that Germany would take the blame for the war which was called the War Guilt Clause. Germany had to pay reparations, money for the damages of the war, to the countries impacted by the war. Also, Germany had to give up some of its lands to Great Britain and France. However, Italy and Japan did not receive any land despite being on the allied side at the end of the war. This insult made them feel betrayed. In addition, Germany had to decrease their military to 100,000 troops, 6 battleships, eliminate submarines and air force. In this treaty, Woodrow Wilson’s (US President) Fourteen Points was included to eliminate future war. One important element of the Fourteen Points was the creation of the League of Nations. This group was intended to prevent future wars by getting a large group of countries together. Unfortunately, the US and the Soviet Union did not join, thus weakening the power of the whole group. Also, they lacked a military to enforce the decisions they made. The czar was forced out of power because the people didn’t like them. The new government called the Provisional Government didn’t take Russia out of the war. They were unpopular and the Bolsheviks wanted to change. They wanted to take land from the rich and give it to the poor. They took over the capital and seized control of Russia, in October 1917. They take Russia out of the war, but civil war breaks out between the red and white army. The Red army wins in 1922 and Russia becomes the Soviet Union.

It ended dictatorship in Mexico and established a constitutional republic. A number of groups, led by rich men, those men were Francisco Madero, Pascual Orozco, Pancho Villa, and Emiliano Zapata, participated. Most of them died. Due to the amount of money that there was there were a lot of people losing jobs. The more people that lost their jobs couldn't afford to buy stuff so basically,
 everybody was poor. The great depression was worldwide, the reason it was worldwide was that everybody was depending on the USA. there was Inflation, which was caused by when the German government decided to print off money to pay back all the loans they had. If they had a different leader that could have given them more hope then they would have gotten into the big hole of debt. The great depression changed how people thought about the leaders of the government.

It started in 1922 and ended in 1952. Joseph Stalin was the dictator of the USSR, he was really mean and harsh. He hurt a lot of people. Some of the things he ran were the Bolshevik newspaper(he ran it during the Russian revolution), changed school systems (to praise him){like a cult}. Joseph Stalin also wanted to change the Soviet Union into a totalitarian state, he used propaganda. Joseph Stalin was the person that had complete control in simpler words he was Totalitarianism. Stalin killed 8-11 million people who campaigned to eliminate anyone he thought opposed his power, which was called the Great purge. Stalin had complete control over all aspects of the economy, in smaller words he had command economy. He made Five- year plans, it was made to industrialize USSR quickly. Anyone in the way killed or put in the gulag. He would also take farmers’ land to put the workers on, collective farmers were people who still had farms were called kulaks they hated Stalin, eventually, they died from starving.

Adolph Hitler went to jail in the 1920s, he was trying to lead a rebellion. He is a persuasive speaker and he uses the bad economic times and resentment about the Treaty of Versailles to attract supporters, he is also an anti-communist. A little later Hitler became the leader of Fascism, Fascism is an extreme right-wing, extreme nationalist. Hitler started a small nationalist party called Nazi Party, It is devoted to their country Germany first. You may see people wearing brown shirts, these people are called the SA, they were former soldiers now they are unemployed. They are loyal to Hitler, you can see them in the streets fighting with other people, there are also anti-communists, and they intimidate other political parties. Hitler said that Aryans are real Germans and that they are “full citizens''. The impact on Germany was very bad, Hitler could decide if people could live or die, He could control education, speech, press, limits on people like they couldn’t meet up in less they were supporting him. He also targets those against him like Jews, Killed powerful supporters because they could be rivals. Kristallnacht, The Night of the Broken Glass, Jewish businesses and homes were attacked and looted, Police helped or watched.

In his mind, the good of the country came before the good of the people. He had an armed support group called the black shirts these were the same as Hitler’s brownshirts. They were also anti-communist. In the year 1922, he led a march on Rome with 30,000 of his Blackshirts and the president made him the prime minister. He then makes a totalitarian government and fixes the infrastructure.
