War
My understanding of war is that it occurs as product of mankind's imperfections. Mankind has always had and will continue to have the desire of wanting more, that combined with our natural stubbornness, war and arguments are bound to happen.

Power
Power is an effect of humanity wanting to be in control of everything and everyone around them. Whether it is for good or for bad, most of society wants to be guided and told what to do, and it only takes one person to do so.

Survival
It is mankind's natural instinct to survive, and we would do whatever it takes just to continue living. It may result in horrible events to be caused, but it is for the benefit of one's life. It is ambiguous; not black and white.

Education
Education is necessity for all of society as it helps steer us into a bright future and further develop as humans. If we do not have education, out daily interactions with the world around us would be completely different.

Rebellions
Rebellions stem from the belief that whoever is in charge is doing a horrible job in what they are doing. Throughout history, many societies have rebelled against their incompetent leaders for the better of their society and their well being.

What is he saying? Why is the refrain so important?
Throughout his song, Billy Joel states in his refrain, "We didn't start the fire; It was always burning; Since the world's been turning; We didn't start the fire; No we didn't light it; But we tried to fight it" Humanity has always been in constant warfare and chaos since the beginning of time. Also, he mentions and makes allusions to various dates in history where conflict has occurred, showing humanity has never and will never achieve total peace at any given point

He covers mostly every subject; sports, politics, science, entertainment,

What is the meaning of this song? Why is it Relevant?
The main chorus of this song states, ¨Where is the Love" implying that not everyone is treated right and respectful. Furthermore, the singers appear to give a child's perspective on this look by asking his/her's father and mother. The song, like many, brings up the issue of segregation and racism. Also, this song is still relevant as we, as a society, have still not ended racism and unfair biases. The issue has been present all throughout history and it seems as if it will continue to be as such.

We shouldn't only worry about our race; we should worry about everyone to promote actual equality.

We only have one world and we all have to share that. EQUALITY !!!!!!

How does Animal Farm relate to the ideas?

War
The battles between animals and humans are seen minimally throughout the book, but it is the cause for the whole plot. The book also contributes because it is an allegory for the Russian Revolution. They were fighting for absolute power and control; everything. (Pigs) Benjamin chose to do nothing about his knowledge of the pig's desire. From the very beginning, we know that freedom is not guaranteed.

Power
With Napoleon's control of the animals, he establishes himself as a dictator figure. He closely resembles the characteristics of Stalin. *Included in War Section

Survival
The animals overthrew their owner, Mr.Jones in hope of having a better life, just like many societies and countries did during this time period. The animals just want natural rights, and they will do and follow anyone who will give them that.

Education
The animals become educated after Mr. Jones is kicked out. The animals become literate, but they cannot remember much due to their underdeveloped minds. The pigs educated themselves by learning how to read and write. They set themselves up for superiority over the animals. The pigs constantly change the commandments to suit their own needs. The pigs then use fear (dogs) in line. They then use violence.

Rebellions
The animals rebel against their original leader, leading to their revolution. This does work out for the best, however, because the animals are still treated poorly underneath new rule.

Reflection on the Unit

War-
Throughout the duration of this unit, my interpretation of war is more or less the same, but through reading and listening to many works, I became more aware of how cruel war truly is. In the novel, All Quiet on the Western Front, I read first-hand accounts of the new, German perspective of WWII. I saw how many young men were forced to abandon their young, prosperous lives, and how they were thrown into the front lines like nothing. This perspective opened my eyes to how young German males were treated less than what they were. In Night, the victims of WWII, mainly the genocide of Jews, go through cruel treatments for something they could not control and the intensity of war and conflict is felt throughout the novel. Overall, the works we read in this unit helped me understand that war is not the solution but instead the problem that mainly hurts those who never wanted it.

Power-
In this unit, I saw Power mostly used as a negative item as once power was established, those who had power often abused it. In Animal Farm, once the pigs obtained control of the farm, they slowly manipulated the farm to fit their needs and often did not follow the rules and treated the animals crueler than how they previously were. Overall, in this unit, I have learned that when power is given or taken, more often times than not, those in power will become corrupt and will be negative towards others.

Survival-
In this unit, I have read about multiple instances in which characters had to go to desperate attempts to stay alive because we, as humans, will always do whatever it takes to stay alive. In All Quiet on the Western Front, Paul fights a French soldier in hand-to-hand combat, and after he defends himself, Paul reflects on what he did and what meaning that death as behind it. Overall, humanity will do whatever it takes to stay alive, even at the cost of other lives.

Rebellion-
In this unit, I have learned that when rebellions occur, they occur because the people's conditions are terrible and need to be changed. In Persepolis, the Iranian Revolution is described through the eyes of a young girl, and with the accounts given, it was only logical for the people to rebel against their leaders. Ultimately, rebellions are the effect of terrible leadership and not pleasing the people with what they want.

Education-
In this unit, I have learned that education is a necessity for a society to thrive successfully. If people are not educated, they will become susceptible and gullible as they will not have the capability of thinking otherwise. In Animal Farm, the pigs are the most educated, so they become the leaders within their society, and since the others are not educated they listen to the pigs. Due to this, the pigs can easily manipulate them to do whatever they want. Finally, education is a key factor from differentiating successful societies from those who are underdeveloped.
