The way is a powerful movie about family and friends. After that his son got killed in the pyrenees, Martin Sheen goes to France to get the remaining of his child to bring it back in America. However, he decides to stay and honor his son's desire to finish the journey. Throughout his way, he meets a couple of friends (The Irish man, The Dutch man and The other lady) that he first rejected but then became friends with later. He goes through different challenges such as loosing his bag or getting arrested. But none of that stopped him from attaining his objectives. He received different good luck items along the way just like The boy in the alchemist. At the first he was not really a religious guy but he ended up praying to the superior Being. And just like Lewis he realized that at the end, our relationship with God and the people around us is what's true happiness is.

As I watch the movie the way , i can't help but realize how extremely touching this movie actually is . This movie starts with the high pressure luxurious life style of an american eye doctor , and we come to learn that this optho has a soon that he soon learns has died spontaneously on one of his many secluded trips to basically find himself in the world . At the beginning of this movie I see that "Tom" the main character has a lack of belief a lack of compassion for anything but throughout this he for some reason decided he needed to retrieve his sons body and within that encounter he embarks on his journey on the camino.
Personally , as this journey progresses there are certain signs of growth in religion and his beliefs (from archiving his sons ashes , to than later slowly spreading them across the camino ) , he also than makes some companions along the way ( The dutch , the women , and the irish dude) . Tom embraces the challenges he is thrown , from almost losing his bag , to getting arrested. You'd thin this would discourage him and stop him from continuing his path , from making sure he finishes the camino and subliminally finding himself and his religious path , but surprisingly . This doesn't , along with his dismays he also encounter many good luck charms ,which help him along the way , this story is extremely touching , from reliving self growth , fighting for family and also making some friends along the way . I really enjoyed this movie , my favorite part was the portion with the gypsy father apologizing and extending an invite to the travelers to join him in a festival basically in their honor. While than mentioning to him to drop his sons ashes in the sea, the simple fact that tom acknowledges this and is considering it ,to me shows spiritual growth.
