In order for a society to establish ethical living, members must have a generally accepted sense of the word "ethical". People must understand the goal of the society. They must share morals, values and ideals that help define the word. Members of the society must also have the common, stable goal of achieving ethical living, and once it is achieved, of maintaining it. The society must be peaceful and easy enough to operate in so that ethical living becomes a priority.

From my experiences I would say that these things are very vital to ones development and survival, these can be as follows; Shelter, food, water these all have to be there for one to survive. The ability to feel in oneself that they belong in this world and that they have a job or purpose to fulfill, otherwise they look at their life and see nothing and meaningless. This is where the feeling of being loved and cared for is also a huge deal, this because it then promotes a loving and caring society for the next people to live in it. Ethical Living is something that is not tethered to an entire race but to what one believes they must live by and how they alone consider themselves. A society needs incentives to follow ethical living. A society with comprehensive and fair laws and people to enforce them would have much more ethical living, as long as those laws are ethical. Another way is to have a culture where unethical behavior is taboo or greatly frowned upon, which can reduce the need for much enforcement of the laws that pertain to the unethical behavior which is taboo.

Ethical living is complicated, but one way of thinking about it is having a net improvement on those around you. This means shopping from ethically sourced brands, helping others no matter what, looking into what you can do to help your community, not supporting corporations that damage the environment, and so on. In order to foster an ethical society, we would need to revert to almost primitive ways. Think about those working for big corporations that damage the environment. If we were to have an ethical society, they would have to quit their jobs. Most manufacturing would have to stop, because of the non-ethical, though not exactly unethical, ways that almost everything is produced. We would all have to become vegetarians, as eating other creatures is not ethically right. The paper supply would dramatically decrease, because it's not ethical to cut down the amount of trees that we as a species do. Even recycling isn't truly ethical, because although it does greatly reduce our impact on the environment, the fossil fuels released are not good for the environment. Even modern medicine cannot be completely ethical, due to how some medicines are obtained, and due to practices such as taking someone off of life support. However, the practice above is considered ethical in the medical field, because it's more humane to stop someone's suffering, even though letting someone die is objectively speaking, "unethical". If we stick to the true definition of "ethical" it is impossible to live in a truly ethical society.
