In my opinion, "Social Justice" is to forgive and forget. Not to overlook previous grievences, but to move above them in a shared purpose.

Only by aknowledging our humanity may we find unity between our different groups that compose our society. Dwelving in the wounds inflicted upon one another will only cause division and strife. We must exercise empathy for one another in order for healing to take place. It may not erase the consequences of our actions, but every journey must begin with the first step. And forgiving is step 1.

I think something easy and fun to add to English classes is recognizing that diversity is an inherent feature of cultures, languages and people. Furthermore, emphasizing that language is created by speakers can incite students to also fight for what they believe in, understanding that they have significant influence in the structures present in our society. In my opinion, wealth inequality would be a top priority, as financial disavantadges are commonly weaponized to reinforce the many challenges faced by minoritized groups. Bigotry against gender, racial and LGBTQIA+ groups are even harder to overcome when these groups are also the same dealing with poverty and the many obstacles of social mobility.

Even though I'm not currently politically organized, I try to live a life aligned with the principles I believe in. I really love the saying 'It takes a village,' and one might be surprised by how many opportunities to help their community appear once they're open to them. And that goes beyond charitable work—it can take the form of horizontal, meaningful, everyday conversations, like helping someone in your life understand their rights or navigate the red tape surrounding government aid. If I were to engage to a specific agenda it would be universal access to education.

In the World population review, our country is placed in 8th position on a list of the most unequal countries. Here In Brazil, a report from Oxfam shows that only Six Brazilians have wealth equivalent to the patrimony of the country's 100 million poorest people.

I think that we all should try to make movements to act for change of societal pre-established and unethical norms and the structures that perpetuate them. I believe that, at the moment, I have been paying more attention to environmental issues and gender inequalities, which are never unaccompanied, there is always more to it depending on many factors. In that sense, my idea of acting in favour of social justice would not be just looking at specific groups with a narrow view, but at the environment in which they are inserted, the external factors that are impacted by them and the subjects within it that demand change, trying to adapt things little by little to achieve a comfortable space for all.

Making the classroom's environment an open space, where the students can speak for themselves, have their own opinions and thoughts. Besides that, encourage the students to criticize what they read and listen, not simply accept everything that comes their way.
