The cemetery was built in 1866 and has more than 300,000 veterans in their grounds. 27 to 30 burials happen Monday through Friday. Annually 6,900 more people are buried in the cemetery. Three soldiers lay there, one each being from World War l, World War ll and the Korean War. Originally there were four, but the fourth was identified as Lieutenant Micheal J. Blassie.
