The purpose of this article is to show us just how rampant pedophilia seems to run in the church, more specificially the catholic church

The article states that 1,700 holy people have had strong cases brought up against them in the past only for these cases to be dropped and the accused to go back into society, on no lists, to harm more children

This article was published by a reliable news source and uses pathos as it's appeal because of just how horendous the crimes were

The audience is those concerned about the situation and those that know of the situation, victims, family and friends of victims, and witnesses. Parents are a main target demographic however many people are ignorant to the sexual abuse seen in many churches by pastors and preists.

The main flaw is that the article is from a news source, many accuse news sources of being innadequite and biased which can can many to not listen to the news source.

Our modern day society is no stranger to awful large acts of violence, and nothing has rallied people more than religion to that cause.

This article shows us that islamic extremism is quite rampant in many countries. Many countries actively try to combat the extremism however there are still many groups that cause damage through acts of terrorism.

These groups have rallied many people to their cause, enough people to gather an army strong enough to combat many countries including attacks from the west and remain standing as a group.

While it is vastly opposed this results in an issue of the silent majority. Most muslims condemn islamic extremism however the extremists, while few in number compared to non-extremist muslims the even wider world remain a threat to modern day society.

This article shows us that religion is able to rally people together to commit acts they otherwise wouldn't in the name of religion. Islamic extremists are largely after power instead of just spreading their religion, they use their religion as a disguise for their hatred and their acts. The article uses Logos in order to give the facts on the acts of terrorism and extremism commited while perserving the fact that it is a small minority and that it is not all muslims but rather those few that have made the biggest impact on the world.

The intended audience is those ignorant to the subject of terrorism and due to that tend to view all muslims as terrorists due to their ignorance as well as those interested in the links between muslims and extremism and terrorism.

I feel that the audience isn't met well as those who are willfully ignorant won't have their minds changed and you have to go looking for the article which many ignorant people avoid doing.

I believe it is a useful source because it explains an issue that is related quite heavily to one of the largest religions in the world while stating that while it can be a direct cause of the religion it is important to remember not all people within the religion act this way.

Heinous acts of violence have run rampant since even the early days of our modern day societies. Countries were built of the backs of these violent acts, acts that could have been prevented however were caused by religion

The spanish inquisition took place hundreds of years ago and can be used as demonstrations of violent acts commited under the guise of religion. The true goal of the inquisition was power and dominance within spain for the new government which they used heresy as a claim to execute those that did not convert to christianity.

The intended audience are students assigned to study the spanish inquisition as it is made easy to read and digest as well as being easy to find for many students.

The source accuratly depicts a summarized version of the events that took place during the spanish inquisition as well as the impact on the world while keeping it easy to read although the subject could be considered rather complex.

The main issue is that the document is a long read and it doesn't grab attention well. This makes it difficult to read for those who aren't interested and can make it daunting for those interested but who don't care to read.

The source uses logos, using what we know of the spanish inquisition and giving the facts, how it started, ended, why it happened and so on.

The bible has many outdated beliefs that hinder our progression as a society. These verses still go unnoticed and many pretend they don't exist. These verses have views that our society has long since condemned and yet these outdated beliefs are pushed through the minds of even young children and passed down which leads to hateful beliefs about those they view as different.

We forget the verses that justfy the mistreatment of women, of other races. The verses that condone slavery, mysogeny, and homophobia. These verses only justify the actions of hateful people in their heads with outdated beliefs and we call it religion and the word of god, words that go against the will of the pope himself.

The website stated is a copy of the bible, the supposed word of god that many hold as their code of beliefs having not truly read every passage and using it as an excuse for their hatred. The document uses pathos as it tells people that should they not abide by these rules when they die they will suffer eternal damnation in hell

The bible's audience is only christians as well as those questioning however many christians barely believe the words of the bible and it feels more like an outdated book than one of holy standards.

The bible complicates its subjects by putting everything into verses which need interpretation. There are so many different versions of the bible itself that it's hard to figure out which is the true word of god, some messages in one aren't in others and this results in differing views for the same religion which should be a united people.

Heinous acts have been commited under religion, and yet these actions have no reprecussions. We can look to corruption within the church as a cause for it.

The criminals have infiltrated the higher parts of the church, which leads to the victims being silenced, the criminals being hidden, and the church is still heralded as an organization for good that builds our world when in actuality it brings our society down and harbors criminals within it's ranks without making true change.

The intended audience are those interested in the cases as well as issues within the church, mainly those who haven't been completely immersed in the church or are even contemplating leaving the church due to the wrong they have experienced or seen. This is flawed because it isn't as public which limits the information from getting out to a larger audience which results in ignorance.

The source is a bit of a wall of text however it does include what is needed. It could go into more depth on the topic however it does include segments about it being a worldwide issue not just an american issue which I believe is important as we forget that our issues are experienced worldwide and vice versa.

The source is written by a lawyer and uses pathos to get the readers attention, to call attention to the heinous acts that have been commited by the hands of people we view as holy.
