In the Summer Term of Year 10, you can book tasters with some of the local Pathway providers. Consider carefully which providers you'd like to visit and what subjects/courses you want to find out about.

At the start of Year 11, all colleges/sixth form colleges will host open events (from end of September to mid-December.) You can find dates of open events on college websites and information will be displayed around School. 

There has been a steady increase in people starting apprenticeships after studying at college or sixth form. Apprentices can study higher and even degree level courses alongside their work.   The video attached explains apprenticeships very clearly.

If you are interested in applying for apprenticeships, there are some websites that advertise opportunities.  You will need to show employers that you are work ready and can manage work load and studying at the same time. You could approach local employers yourself asking if they expect to take on an apprentice from summer 2027 onwards.

Most of the local colleges host open events when you can visit (with your parent) during the Spring or Summer Terms. You can look at facilities, talk to tutors and chat to students about their experiences.

Currently local colleges offer T Levels in Animal Care, Building, Building Services, Business and Management, Accounting, Engineering, Health Care, Education and Child Care, Media, Broadcast and Production, Digital Development, Digital Support (see link above for further information).

The World of Work is changing rapidly with developments in A.I./technology, changing needs in the population and the impact of climate change. The World Economic Forum has predicted that 65% of students today will be doing jobs in their lives that aren’t job roles that are currently advertised!

 In the Autumn term of Year 10 you will have the opportunity to develop your own C.V. (in preparation for seeking out work experience and for a mock interview).  This is a basic application form outlining key information about you to impress an opportunity provider. Good practice for when you apply to colleges or apprenticeships. Whichever Pathways you choose to apply to in Year 11 – you will be invited to an interview either face to face or by phone/Teams Chat. In the Summer Term of Year 10 you will have the chance to have a ‘mock interview’ with someone who will be invited into School.  Sounds worrying?  DON’T STRESS!  This is a chance for you to ‘give it a try’ and most students really enjoy the experience and learn lots about how to present themselves.
