Aiman Aydin
Hana Batrisya
Syahmi Haziq

Digital Transformation is far beyond just moving from traditional banking to a digital world. It is a vital change in how banks and other financial institutions learn about, interact with and satisfy customers. An efficacious Digital Transformation
begins with an understanding of digital customer behavior, preferences, choices, likes, dislikes, stated as well as unstated
needs and aspirations.

THE 3 PILLARS OF DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION IN BANKING

Reinvent the Consumer Journey

Banking providers need to determine what matters most at critical points in the customer journey — which is going to vary greatly between different consumer segments — and then work relentlessly to improve the experience. The end goal is to completely digitize the consumer journey from start to finish. For example, the bank used to manually trace beneficial owners through company holding structures and then manually compare owners against six different sanctions databases. The process could take days. By digitizing the process, onboarding now takes three minutes.

Leverage the Power of Data

Data analytics enable banks and credit unions to better understand consumers, identify business opportunities and reduce costs, says Boston Consulting Group. Advanced analytics allow financial institutions to better anticipate loan defaults or to find consumers who, due to overzealous discounting, are underpaying and then reprice these products and services. Another idea is to use granular cluster analysis to compare an individual consumer product mix to the average for that consumer type and use that information to cross-sell and deepen relationships.
Banks and credit unions can use data mining for better prospect and client targeting. On the prospecting side, prioritize leads and establish connections to between current and potential clients. Use behavioral analytics to identify consumers who are a flight risk and then create individual action plans to keep these consumers loyal.

Redefine the Operating Mode

Consumers increasingly want the best of both worlds: a digital experience when they need speed and convenience and a human experience when they need advice for more complex products such as investments or mortgages or when they have an issue or problem. Boston Consulting Group reports that the percentage of consumers who want a hybrid experience has increased to 43% from 37% in 2015.

Boston Consulting Group identifies digital operating models:

Digital as Business as Usual Plus. The management team stays in place and the focus is on bite-sized advances. Funding usually comes from the P&L change budget.

.Pros: Quick early wins and cost savings.

.Cons: It’s tough to change a business model that remains siloed within an existing business unit. Since P&L remains in the specific market or line of business, there’s little incentive to reach across business lines. And legacy systems remain an issue.

.Most appropriate for: Banks and credit unions in the early stages of digital transformation.

Hiring strategy: Retrain existing talent and add external talent where needed

Thank you to all who have read our project.
DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION IN RETAIL INDUSTRY

by 🔥Group 2 🔥
Nur Alin Qistina
Mohamad Afifi
Mikael Arief
Anas Ismail

INTRODUCTION 🛒

Technologies are advanced more than ever today. It has changed the way we communicate, advertise, and so on. These innovations we have created saves us time and simplifies our work. Customers want an easier way to buy items that would not cost them time or trouble. Retailers recognise the need to transform their industry.

A LITTLE BIT OF BACKGROUND ON THE RETAIL INDUSTRY 🛒

Retail is the process of selling consumer goods or services to customers through multiple channels of distribution to earn a profit. Retailers satisfy demand identified through a supply chain. The term "retailer" is typically applied where a service provider fills the small orders of a large number of individuals, who are end-users, rather than large orders of a small number of wholesale, corporate or government clientele. Shopping generally refers to the act of buying products. Sometimes this is done to obtain final goods, including necessities such as food and clothing; sometimes it takes place as a recreational activity. Recreational shopping often involves window shopping and browsing: it does not always result in a purchase

EXAMPLES OF DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION IN RETAIL INDUSTRY 🛒

1. Digital marketing 🛍

With customers glued to internet-enabled devices, digital marketing becomes more important than ever for retailers connecting with shoppers. Whether it's digital coupons, virtual storytelling, emails, or increased ads, companies are upping their digital marketing game. In fact, the top area for new spending in business is digital marketing, according to Gartner's 2018 CIO Agenda: Retail Industry Insights.

2. Analytics 🛍

Studying analytics is vital to understanding your customer. Information, like demographics and customer traffic, allows businesses to make smarter decisions based on customer details, as well as to personalize the customer experience. One example of this comes from Samsung, which created a pop-up shop that can share data with SMBs in real time, TechRepublic's Olivia Krauth reported.

3. Omnichannel retail 🛍

Omnichannel commerce is a multichannel approach to shopping that aims to make the customer experience more seamless across in-person and online channels. Walmart is jumping on the omnichannel train with it's order-by-text service, TechRepublic contributing writer Jonathan Greig reported. This delivery service allows customers to order goods via text message to increase convenience. Another example is Neiman Marcus' Snap Find Shop app, in which customers can take a picture of an item in the store and look for it or similar items online, TechRepublic's Dan Patterson explained.

4. Artificial intelligence (AI) 🛍

AI is automating and customizing the retail experience, aiming to make shopping easier for the consumer. According Deloitte, over a third of major brand leaders are using AI to improve business. One major AI movement is the development of cashier-less stores. Amazon Go, a fully-automated grocery store in Seattle, eliminates checkout lines and cashiers. Amazon is set to open two more stores in San Francisco and Chicago, Techrepublic's Alison DeNisco Rayome reported.

5. Voice 🛍

Voice activation AI is so popular it deserves a separate bullet. Whether it's instructing your Google Home to buy you things or asking Siri to search for an item online, voice control has gained popularity in the retail space. Voice activation is now even helpful for retail employees: For example, with 'Theatro,' employees can communicate throughout a store via voice-controlled wearables.

6. Augmented reality (AR) 🛍

Augmented reality is completely changing shopping experiences. Consumers can now virtually try on clothes or test products via AR. For example, within Sephora's mobile application, users can virtually sample makeup in real time. By placing filters over their live selfies, users can see what makeup products would look like on their faces, explained Solis in his Leading Trends in Retail Innovation report.

7. Virtual reality (VR) 🛍

While AR is transforming the consumer retail experience, VR is changing the business side, according to Forbes. VR is helpful for visualizing and redesigning stores, and testing different layouts without having to physically rebuild the store. Retailer Rebecca Minkoff is using VR to plan store organization that is most convenient and logical for the consumer's preferences, Solis said.

8. Sensor data 🛍

Sensor data is revolutionizing brick and mortar retailers. The most popular vessel of sensor data is beacons. Major brands strategically place small beacon sensors around their stores, which connect to customer's phones if bluetooth is enabled and the retail app is installed. With this connectivity, retailers can see how long users are in their stores and what they pick up, as well as offer personalized discounts based on that information. Sephora uses beacons to offer users a map of the store and offer promotions, said Solis in his report.

9. Facial recognition 🛍

Facial recognition technology can help retailers better understand customer preferences. According to Forbes, facial recognition can track where customers gravitate within stores, determine customer demographics, and even prevent theft. By tracking where most customers first go in shops, business leaders can develop a store

PROS AND CONS OF DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION 🛒

CONSUMER ENGAGEMENT

Pros: • Mobile devices with apps infuse personalized shopping experience

• Transparent pricing

• Shoppers have more knowledge on products

Cons: • One-way communication

PRODUCT DELIVERY

Pros: • Product traceable

Cons: • Vagueness with regard to customer preference

PURCHASE

Pros: • More payment options (e-wallet, crypto currency)

• Self-Service

• Better exchange and return policy

Cons: • Security risk

POST-PURCHASE

Pros: • 360-degree customer engagement – product improvement and innovation.

• Product review (testimonials)

Cons: • Better product found after purchase

CONCLUSION 🛒

If retailers are investing in digital only

through opportunities offered from ecommerce business, or measuring success simply by measuring channel sales, they are missing the bigger opportunity.

The retail industry is at the beginning of a digital transformation in many ways. And it isn’t just about e-commerce, technology devices and connectivity in-store, it is really about business outcomes, such as new customer experiences, revenue streams and business models. Part of this success is taking advantage of digital opportunities within physical stores, integrated with online experiences.

Thank you so much for taking time to read our project on Digital Transformation in Retail Industry.
Digital transformation of Manufacture

Farrel
Mikhail
Yusuf
Ilham
While manufacturers have traditionally been hesitant to invest in their operations due to cost, a recent National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) survey of more than 500 manufacturers reveals that 65% plan to increase capital spending in the coming years. Where is the money going to go? Experts predict most manufacturers will look toward revamping their facilities in order to adapt to the demands of today’s digital world. This adjustment, which many call the “fourth industrial revolution” or smart manufacturing, will move manufacturers from mass production to customized production via a digital supply network.

The digital transformation, a melding of new technologies such as the Internet of Things(IoT), advanced robotics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and 3D printing, is expected to generate more than $370 billion in net global value over the next four years. While digitization is helping to get more out of manufacturers’ materials and machines, what are the driving forces behind transformation? In short, customers, employees, and suppliers.

Customers

According to a Harvard Business Reviewstudy of 75,000 people, the most important factor for customers is the reduction of effort; they want the products they interact with to be simple, questions to be answered fast, and information to be available when they need it. These expectations are changing the way they view traditional products and brands, opening up the door for competing manufacturers that have embraced the digital transformation. To stay ahead of the curve, keep customers, and attract new ones, manufacturers need to innovate faster and create products that are software-enabled and connected (think the smart car; today there are entire smart cities).

Keeping up with shorter product life-cycles(PLCs) is also of the utmost importance. Today, a typical life-cycle between electronic variants and generations is going from 12-18 months to less than one year for many products (consider how frequently people upgrade their smartphones for the latest and greatest; even in the automotive industry, PLC has gone from 9 to 5 years). With PLCs getting shorter and shorter, manufacturing processes need to get faster and faster, and digital transformation is leading the charge.

Finally, today’s customers expect higher levels of quality; when they drop hundreds of dollars on a new device, they expect a high-quality piece of technology. Digitization in manufacturing facilities introduces rigorous quality management and control, helping manufacturers to build better products.

Employees

Disconnected employees lead to job dissatisfaction. Digitization helps manufacturers get the most out of their employees, and helps employees get the most out of their jobs. Digitization breaks down information barriers and departmental thinking allowing employees to do their jobs more effectively. However, there can be a lack of digital talent in many manufacturing facilities. While this is understandable in large, well-established firms, their position in the industry allows them to adapt at a slightly slower pace. Small and medium-sized manufacturers (SMMs), on the other hand, are under tremendous pressure to bring in tech-savvy employees that understand the digital realm, otherwise they become extremely vulnerable to competition from startups and other more agile companies that attract young digital talent in droves.

But it’s not just about bringing in the millennials (and soon, Generation Z); after all, things are changing so quickly that much of what someone learned in school may be nearly outdated within a few years. So while bringing in new employees can be beneficial, manufacturers should also look at current employees who understand the business and the market. If those employees are excited to learn and mix their experience with new digital strategies, they may be the ideal candidate.

A few best practices for attracting tech-savvy employees and adapting existing employees:

Give equal opportunity to all, regardless of tenure. The age of an employee should also not be a factor; rather, the willingness to learn should be the determinant.

Adopt a continuous learning program; as-you-go learning will be more successful than a trial-by-fire approach down the road.

Pair newer, digital natives with tenured, experienced employees so they can learn from one another and transfer knowledge.

Suppliers

To stay agile, resilient and responsive, manufacturers need to be able to easily communicate with suppliers and partners across geographies before integrating a product into their delivery supply chain. Today, manufacturers are also extending their value chains to external collaborators for everything from product design and development to sales and service. However, many of these functions still operate within a silo rather than working together harmoniously. Digitization brings down those walls, so that manufacturers, suppliers, collaborators, transporters, and yes, even customers, become one seamlessly integrated ecosystem that is fully transparent.

There are three main ways the digital transformation will change the supplier relationship forever (and for the better):

Procurement. Closer connections can be formed with suppliers and partners to aid the planning process, improve sourcing, actively manage supplier risk, and boost collaboration. This helps support the manufacturer’s long-term plans for growth, innovation, and sustainability.

Transparency. Manufacturers will not just react to disruptions but be able to anticipate them, modeling the network, creating “what-if” scenarios, and adjusting the supply chain immediately as conditions change.

Analytics. With immediate access to data, manufacturers gain an clear understanding of how well they are handling operations with metrics related to speed, inventory, and finances.

The future is now. The digital transformation is upon us, and it is giving SMMs the opportunity to build their own smart facilities in order to better serve their customers, engage their employees, and collaborate with suppliers. Those who embrace this fourth industrial revolution—smart manufacturing—are sure to thrive, while those who do not may be left behind. If you haven’t already done so, consider re-investing in your business through digitization, and start manufacturing smarter, not harder.
