Remake of Multicultural Education Digital Toolkit by Krystina

Use Multicultural Books: Choose books by authors from different cultures and rotate them regularly throughout the school year. For example, feature new multicultural books each month to support ongoing curriculum integration and keep students engaged with fresh, inclusive stories. Example: Last Stop on Market Street by Matt de la Peña or Inside Out and Back Again by Thanhha Lai. These stories help students see themselves and others in what they read.

Hi, my name is Krystina Duron, and I’m working toward my degree in Early Childhood Education at Grand Canyon University.

In creating this multicultural education toolkit, I focused on making sure every student feels seen, heard, and included. I wanted to offer tools that reflect many cultures across curriculum areas, because diversity matters in every subject.

As someone who values empathy, compassion, and respect, I made sure those virtues guided each strategy. I believe that when teachers reflect the imago Dei—that all people are created in God’s image—they naturally create spaces where every child matters.

One thing I learned through this process is how powerful small actions can be. A book choice, a greeting in a student’s home language, or a chance to share a story can completely change how a child feels about school.

Going forward, I plan to use this toolkit to make my classroom a welcoming place where differences are celebrated. I want my students to grow not just academically, but also in kindness and understanding.

Thank you for listening.
