Il punto di partenza potrebbe consistere nel porsi alcune domande, per esempio:
1) Cosa mi piace in questo oggetto o quale elemento trovo interessante? (se individuo almeno un elemento positivo posso riproporlo nel nuovo oggetto)
2) Cosa modificherei e perché? (le modifiche non devono mai produrre un oggetto del tutto diverso. Non posso dire semplicemente quest'oggetto non mi piace e lo cambio completamente, poiché l'idea di fondo è quella di portare un valore aggiunto all'oggetto originario. In altre parole, il vostro oggetto deve ispirarsi all'originale. Quando metteremo a confronto gli oggetti si dovrà cogliere il legame esistente tra i due. L'abilità che dovrete mettere in campo sarà quella di dare una interpretazione personale dell'oggetto originario e, allo stesso tempo, di creare qualcosa che mantenga il "dialogo" con quest'ultimo. 
3) L'oggetto è troppo semplice rispetto al modo in cui sono collocati i volumi? Come posso renderlo più interessante? (ad esempio lavorando per addizione di elementi, per sottrazione di volumi, creando trasparenze, disegnando le superfici)
4) L'oggetto è composto da tanti volumi? Sono disposti in modo equilibrato? Posso fare in modo che la disposizione risulti più armoniosa? 
5) I disegni presenti in superficie possono essere riproposti in altro modo? 
6) L'oggetto ha un punto di vista privilegiato, ovvero se lo guardo da un determinato lato mi appare più bello, mentre gli altri lati risultano meno significativi? (posso immaginare di disporre i solidi in modo che tutti i lati dell'oggetto diventino interessanti)
Queste domande sono solo alcune delle tante che potrebbero essere formulate. Sono certa che svolgerete un ottimo lavoro.
