Cotton is mass produced in fields and processed into thread through the spinning technique. Silk is collected from silkworms and various cocoons. Silk is considered to be more high class than the average cotton clothing. In the recent years textiles, combinations of many materials, have been becoming popular in the clothing industry. Clothing has been transforming into a visible indicator of prestige. Cotton clothing being the cheapest of the three, usually bought by the poorer side of the spectrum. Silk being the high end clothing bought by the richer citizens. On the south side since it was settled by Europeans it is OK to eat cows, pigs, chickens and other animals and animal products. On the north side it is not OK to eat any animals because they were settled by people from India. Such as the south has a lot more technology then the north. The south has things like smart phones and tablets. They also have high speed internet at there houses. But In the north they barely have any technology.  So for there farming they will have hand held tools. But they will have a tracker to haul things. To communicate they will have to talk to each other. They will also have cars too. On the island there is lots of technology on the southern side because it is more for tourists and the richer people live on the south side but on the north since that side is mostly Indian they prefer to have minimal involvement with technology. On the south side there is internet, modern sewage plants, heating and cooling and clean water. Most of the food is grown there because of it being flat fertile soil. The primary food that is grown is rice, wheat, corn. All of the food is trucked across from the plains through the mountains to get to the south side. The other way that it is moved is by boat off the island to trade with other countries for resources that are not available on the island. The northern part still mostly sticks to traditional harvesting methods mostly by hand but modern farming equipment is getting less and less rare.
