If they were selected from the draft they were required to serve at least one year. They constantly needed men to serve in the war so the selective service was made to be sure there were always men to serve. </div>]]></description>

Military leaders felt that African Americans could make a case to become free from demonstrating their heroism and commitment to the country. They were used when full employment collided with rationing, and war bonds were seen as a way a to remove money from circulation as well as reduce inflation. They were once called Defense Bonds, and were issued by the government. After the attack on the Pearl Harbor the name was changed to War bonds. </div>]]></description>
