2) people are able to respond to what you posted, and they're also able to connect with you online through direct-messaging or chatting or commenting.
3) They provide entertainment for the user through different means.

Differences:
They have their own functions. 
>While Facebook and twitter allows you to chat with others and post statuses and photos, Snapchat and Instagram is specifically for posting photos and videos with captions attached and Tumblr could be classified as a blogging site.

Age groups:
>The older generation who are either in Generation X or are baby boomers tend to use Facebook more often. Milennials may use Facebook frequently but some might go on Instagram occasionally.

they are different in a way that their uses and their functions are different. they are similar because they are all social platform where everyone can connect with each other online.

1) -Print Media. Print media includes newspapers, magazines, journals, newsletters and other printed materials, materials to read
- Broadcast Media. News reports broadcasted through radio and television is broadcast media. Some broadcast networks are ABC, CBS, NBC and CNN. Radio: local news station reports news regarding traffic, whether and events.
- Talk radio. There are many talk radio shows now where hosts carry out interviews and mix them with political commentary
- Internet. The internet provides easy access to online sources of news. Websites can provide text, audio, and video information allowing people to personally choose what way they want to receive information. Blogs, when bloggers share their opinions on various issues or events, are becoming influential even though they may not be accurate.

Similarities: 
- All of the above mentioned social medias allow its users to interact with people all around the world and not just in their circle of friends
- It makes sharing memorable times, e.g photos, videos, etc. easier for everyone 
- It requires little effort to create an account, e.g generic user name, password and email address

Differences:
- Although all of them have a common purpose, which is to make it a convenience to connect people worldwide, they used different measures to ensure that common interest

2) Which age groups use which social media platforms?

- Different age groups used different types of social media platforms that match up to their era. However, as social media sites is a lot more popular now as compared to the olden days, hence more young people in today's society make use of social media much more regularly than people in the past do. 
- For example, teenagers nowadays, in my opinion, uses Instagram and Snapchat more often as compared to other social media platforms such as Facebook and Tumblr. Nonetheless, there are still many adults, from age 30-40 years old who uses Facebook as it was the hottest social media platform during their prime years, when it first became a well-known social media site in around 2009 or so.
- Therefore, generally speaking, all these social media sites were invented in different era and were meant for different age groups or people from different era. However, that does not stop the older generations from using such platforms and vice versa. Everyone is free to use whichever social media platform where they feel is most comfortable to express their thoughts and feelings without having to feel judged or threatened. 
- With that said, as social media platforms enable people from all over the world to connectwith one another, it is basic etiquette to display respect towards each other despite the differences.
