Tweaked Kardashian's

The Kardashian’s and Jenner’s are at the forefront of trendsetting in the present day. Many young women are being influenced by the glamourous lifestyles and first world problems that they display on the show “Keeping Up with the Kardashian’s” and over most forms of media. All the Kardashian’s and Jenner’s are most well documented for their beauty, make-up and body maintenance giving them the "pornstar look" (Rosalind 2012, 483-498). Kim has been known to be in photoshopped modelling photos that refine her curves by trimming her waistline and smoothing areas like the buttocks. Kylie Jenner famously morphed into a different human after her 18th birthday due to lip fillers, make-up, dyed hair, 🤬 and nose jobs, and darker skin tones. When celebrities that are famous for primarily their good looks yet are still changing their appearance because they aren’t happy with their natural look then how does this influence all the young women watching the show. The looks that they convey are meant to show a social superiority but the problem is people aspire to be the same (Shilling 2012, 90-92). These people are horrible role models and can have some detrimental results on young women’s self-esteem.

Celebrity surgeries have been in the magazines for a very long time now. Many of the females are usually focused on for 🤬 jobs, nose jobs and Botox when men in the spotlight are also altering their looks. Men are increasingly becoming victims of "metro-sexuality", a term used to describe men who beautify their body (Richardson, Niall, and Locks 2014, 37). No man wants to go bald but inevitably one day you will lose hair at some point. Some men rock the bald look and can be great bald-man advocates such as Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham and Bruce Willis. Then there is the other end of the spectrum with the actors who wished to prevent the thinning. Actors Jamie Foxx and Jeremy Piven are among many more to get hair transplants. When you get a hair transplant you get a large scar across the back of your head. Jamie Foxx has covered his scar with a tattoo. Mickey Rourke noticeably had a huge change in his appearance. Rourke known for his acting was also an amateur and professional boxer. After Rourke’s undefeated professional boxing career, he had to undergo reconstructive surgery for his face after sustaining multiple injuries including a compressed cheekbone. Though having plastic surgery, Rourke ended up looking worse off much like many others who get plastic surgery and its a thing we only see getting more popular.
