Traditional Moldovan Food is delicious. It’s based on meat, fish, vegetables, cereals, and cheese.A traditional and very popular dish, made especially during the holidays, is Placinte, which are pies usually stuffed with cheese (brinza), potatoes, cabbage or apples. You may also want to try sarmale which is made of rice, meat and vegetables rolled in cabbage leaves. Moldovans cook a lot of meat: chicken, pork, beef, lamb, duck, goose. The meat is fried, baked, or grilled. You may also try the meatballs.
Because Moldova is multiethnic, the food may be different depending on the region with a touch of Moldovan, Ukrainian, Gagauzian, Bulgarian, or Russian cuisine.
The best food you can try in Moldova is homemade food, especially in the villages where the traditions are best preserved.
And, most importantly, don’t miss the Moldovan wine.The wine produced on this land was famous for centuries for its rich taste, all thanks to the climate, soil, and the way people make it. Moldovan wine factories are real tourist destinations with underground tunnels and amazing wine cellars. There, you could try remarkable wines that have won multiple international awards.

Stephen III of Moldavia, known as Stephen the Great (Romanian: Ștefan cel Mare;  died on 2 July 1504) was voivode (or prince) of Moldavia from 1457 to 1504. Stephen belongs to the ruling Muşatin family. He was the son and co-ruler of Bogdan II of Moldavia who had reined Moldavia for two years (from 1449 to 1451) before having been killed in a raid led by by his half-brother Petru Aron in 1451. Moldavia was involved in civil war between Petru Aron and Alexăndrel (a nephew of Alexandru cel Bun) during the years of 1451-1457.[Stephen fled to Hungary, and later to Wallachia, but with the support of Vlad III Dracula, Voivode of Wallachia, he returned to Moldavia, forcing Peter III Aaron to seek refuge in Poland in the summer of 1457. Teoctist I, Metropolitan of Moldavia, anointed him prince. He attacked Poland and prevented Casimir IV Jagiellon, King of Poland, from supporting Peter Aaron, but eventually acknowledged Casimir's suzerainty in 1459.
