My biggest concern entering this class was falling behind the majority of the students who are enrolled in some kind of teaching program, or student teaching already. I'm not looking to teach; the only incentive I had (at the beginning) was to earn a decent grade in the last class that would allow me to complete my Writing and Rhetoric minor.

There was a point where we were doing readings that discussed the effective and ineffective ways of teaching grammar to students. One of the more interesting topics that we covered this semester was "Grammar, Style, and Sentence Combining." I had my "aha" moment when I read about the perspectives of educators and how they try to make grammar as memorable to students as possible. It was interesting to see the lengths instructors would go to make students feel confident in their writing through constructive criticism and suggestions for improvement.

From what my group and I gathered from the texts given to us throughout the semester, we decided to create a video that highlights the dos and don'ts to teaching grammar. We had a lot of fun composing it, and though we're not the greatest actors out there, I think we delivered our points successfully.

Even though becoming a teacher isn't part of my greater plan, I did learn a great deal in this course. Reading about different students' experiences in a classroom, and the incentives teachers use to give their students a voice, was certainly refreshing. I hope to carry the different perspectives I opened up my mind to, and spread the word to those who may not know the full extent of what it means to be a fair and promising educator.
