Este acuerdo puso fin a los combates, pero la paz oficial se estableció en 1919 con el Tratado de Versalles.

Este tratado impuso duras sanciones a Alemania, como la pérdida de territorios, reducción de su ejército y enormes pagos de reparaciones. El conflicto dejó millones de muertos, cambios en los mapas de Europa y creó tensiones que más tarde contribuirían a la Segunda Guerra Mundial.
