An issue that relates to the prologue in The Alchemist is vanity and selfishness. They're not exactly global issues but many people have those traits. Vanity - excessive pride in or admiration of one's own appearance or achievements, Selfish - lacking consideration for others; concerned chiefly with one's own personal profit or pleasure. Many people today always think about their own happiness and what satisfies them at a moment and don't look at the people around them. What I'm trying to say is that there are far more important things to worry about rather than if you're going to get to watch something or if your hair looks perfect, especially because of the covid thing going on right now.

A global issue that may relate to the prologue is the problem self obsession. Self obsession- excessively preoccupied with oneself or with one's own concerns . This relates to the prologue because the narcissus is so preoccupied with looking at his own beauty, he drowns in the lake, and the lake is so preoccupied with looking at its reflection, he never notices how beautiful narcissus was. The alchemist doesn't seem to look at the story as a bad thing, but as something that is natural, and human nature.

The global issue that is represented in the prologue is vanity. Vanity- excessive pride in or admiration of one's own appearance or achievements. This global issue connects to the prologue because the story the alchemist reads is about someone who is self-centered and vain. However, this does not mean that it is in a negative tone. In the story, the man would look into the water to look at himself but we find later that the lake would look at its self through his eyes. This shows that being self-centered may be a good thing because by being vain, you may benefit someone else around you.

An issue that many face currently is the loss of dreams. We have dreams and as children we want to be everything but unfortunately as we grow older and more understanding of the world our dreams begin to fade. This recurs all around the world and its sad to see it happen. The alchemist is a book that reminds us of our dreams an our personal legend. The book encourages us to chase after them. I agree with this point of view because the loss of dreams is severe and very few of us ever achieve those.

An Issue that relates to the prologue of the alchemist includes: narcissism (
excessive interest in or admiration of oneself and one's physical appearance) This global issue connects to the alchemist because the lake weeped for narcissus when he died but when the lake asked if narcissus was beautiful the goddesses replied with of course the lake would be sad cause he could no longer see Narcissus’s beauty but wouldn’t the lake know more than anyone as it is he who got to contemplate his beauty every time narcissus saw himself in the you (lake). The lake then countered by saying the reason for him crying was not because he could no longer see Narcissus’s beauty but because the lake could no longer see his own reflection in Narcissus’s eyes.

Self interest is a global issue that has existed in our world forever. Many of our problems today arise from self interest. Self interest is one's personal interest or advantage, especially when pursued without regard for others. When you fail to care for others and only care about yourself and your own gain or benefit, you can easily hurt everyone and everything around you. In the Alchemist, Narcissus only cares about himself and his beauty so he ends up falling in the lake and dying.

Global issue that relates to the prologue in The Alchemist are self centeredness and selfishness. Self centeredness: concerned solely with one's own desires, needs, or interests, selfish: concerned excessively or exclusively with oneself : seeking or concentrating on one's own advantage, pleasure, or well-being without regard for others. People today just focus more on themselves and their happiness instead of others. It related to the prologue because not only would narcissus do it but also the lake was also doing the same thing. The lake used narcissus to see his reflection and narcissus did the same, people usually use other people for their own things as well.

A global issue that relates to the prologue in The Alchemist is vanity. Vanity is an inflated sense of pride in one's self or appearance; conceit. In this world, just like Narcissus, we are always looking out for ourselves. This is dangerous because we get so focused on our own ambitions that we fail to recognize the hazards that lie right in front of us. It's critical to maintain a balance of self-love so that we can follow our passions and still keep ourselves safe from harming ourselves and others.
