The Yalta Conference was a meeting between the British Prime Minister, Winston Churchill, Soviet Premier Joseph Stalin, and the U.S president, Franklin D. Roosevelt. Here they discussed how the globe would recover from the war and how to deal with the Japanese in the Pacific. The Soviets agreed to take on Japan on one condition, that they may hold a sphere of influence over the Manchuria region. FDR would later be criticized, for essential "handing over Eastern Europe.

Following the war the U.S and the Soviet Union had a major political clash over the growing threat of communist ideals expanding over the world. In response to this the U.S formed NATO which would require those in it, to help countries facing threats from the ever increasing communist state. President Truman also introduced the Truman Doctrine, which would give aid to countries facing soviet threats. The Marshall plan was a similar initiative but more focused on helping Western Europe recover from the war. In the height of the cold war Cuba became the center-stage. In October 28, 1962, it was discovered that Russia had placed missiles in Cuba, most of America saw this as an immediate threat. During these tense weeks a peaceful resolution was reached. The U.S then sought to contain communism throughout the world, which stirred negative feelings on the home front and for the most part was unsuccessful, such as Vietnam.

After the war the Russians extended their influence to the majority of countries in eastern Europe. This was referred to as the iron curtain, with many countries despising the communists or simply wanting out. During the Yalta conference Stalin declared that soviet states would hold free elections, however after the war. His word would not hold true. With western Europeans and the U.S's NATO Stalin formed the Warsaw pact. which was in direct response to it, an alliance between communist countries in the east.

The cold war was like two kids wanting to out show each other. The space Race was just another stage for them to act on. The Soviets began with launching the first man made satellite in history, Sputnik. Americans worried over the potential threat of Russian technology looming just overhead. The U.S too became involved in the efforts of going to space. but seemingly lagged behind the Soviets throughout most of it. Until America landed the first man on the moon. Which would place the victory in U.S hands. This only sparked more competitiveness among the two superpowers.

Although the two did not fight formally, proxy wars served as a means to do so, without actually attacking either. These wars were more of two ideologies clashing together. But that does not mean they were spared of the cost of an actual war. These wars, Korea and Vietnam, were some of the bloodiest to have ever been fought. In Korea the communist north, which was backed by the the Russians and Chinese faced off against the democratic South, which held support from many other democratic countries, mainly from the United States. The three year war ended with a stalemate that divided the peninsula, along now known DMZ. The Vietnam war however did not end so peacefully, growing communist influence in the country sparked U.S interest as they sought to contain the seemingly small rebellion. This proved to be much more difficult than anyone could have predicted. The bloody conflict ended in a U.S defeat.

He was determined to manage it, not win it. In the years leading up to his presidency the cold war had spiraled out of control, with both sides now holding a worrying amount of nuclear firepower. He helped ease tensions between the two communist powers. Ping-pong diplomacy thawed sin-american relation.

The arms race was a direct outcome of the heightened tension of two paranoid superpowers. It brought in more fear than the security that it hope to establish. Mutually Assured Destruction was an endgame that, at the time many people saw as the only result of such reckless stockpiling. The Cold War however wasnt good for nothing. In some laces where conflicts had arisen due to the political clash, are now becoming major economic spots throughout the world.
