They also get exposure by being involved with competitions at a higher level throughout the United States.  This gives them exposure to students from other states and throughout the world thereby seeing how other cultures interact with each other .

         <description><![CDATA[<div>What I try to do is relate each topic about a place (history, government, economy, social problems) to the U.S. to make it more relevant or sort of "bring it home."&nbsp; For example, I taught today about drug cartels in Mexico, but instead of posing it as a Mexican problem that is their responsibility alone, we talked about how drug cartels exist where they do because they are trying to get their products to the U.S. because our nation is the consumer of that product.&nbsp; U.S. citizens who are drug users have created the demand which enables the growth of the cartels.</div>]]></description>
