In looks and design, the VEX robot is reminiscent of an advanced Erector set. It comes with motors, boards, and a plethora of connectors for different applications. As with the Hummingbird, the VEX comes in a kit where the physical and electronic structure is dependent solely on the constructor.

According to the website VEX.com:

"The VEX Robotics Design System offers students an exciting platform for learning about areas rich with career opportunities spanning science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). These are just a few of the many fields students can explore with VEX Robotics technology. Beyond science and engineering principles, a VEX Robotics project encourages teamwork, leadership and problem solving among groups."
