They have bases in many cities to help the ones that really need help, one of which is Milwaukee. They are currently helping more than 200,000 students. Organizations like this are working overtime to meet the needs of these students during these times as a lot of students don't have access to the resources they need to succeed in online school. They provide a ton of resources that can be used to provide help for those that need it, as well as info to educate yourself on how achievement gaps affect kids. The first line talks about a study that shows how poverty and race go hand in hand with the achievement gap. A school district in Atlanta shows that schools that tend to be poor have a small achievement gap but where as in a predominately white school it is very easy to see the achievement gap. As this shows how race and poverty are related to the gap the only solution would be to racially integrate schools. The attempt at making all of the schools better has clearly never worked.

While this is a pretty obvious topic it is not talked about as much as it should be. Why are we seeing the achievement gap more due to this pandemic? Online school is the clear answer because of numerous reasons. 1- Not all students have access to technology to take online classes 2- No one is learning the same as they were 3- Online school is not taken as seriously as in person. USA Today talks about other options such as homeschooling, learning pods, etc that are also just not feasible for all families.
