Daily life in Ancient Egypt varied according to one's social class, which would dictate one's work assignment. Nearly everyone, however, dressed simply in linen, ate a diet consisting mainly of grains, vegetables, and beer, played sports and board games, and lived in buildings made from mud bricks.

The Egyptians believed in many gods and goddesses in life and after death for the pharaoh. Egyptians viewed the afterlife as a very hopeful place. However, in the Old Kingdom, people believed that only pharaohs and a special few could make it into the afterlife. So, they mummified pharaohs to protect their bodies on their journey to the afterlife. Because people mummified their pharaohs so much, Egyptian doctors became the first to become specialists in medicine.

The ancient Egyptians took their very seriously although unlike the Mesopotamia's they were not afraid of their gods. They had many gods and deities. Some of their story like Greek gods the gods went into their human forms. Most of their story's had meanings like always be kind. Treat strangers politely, like in the myth were one of the goddesses went into hiding from another god with her son, she was being protected by scorpions. She begged a rich women for a place to stay the women said no. A poor women let her in. The scorpions almost killed the rich women's son and the goddess had too save him.

Because of their religion they believed in the afterlife they had many of their gods there in the long journey. Which is why they mummified people which was a long process, including taking out organs. Letting all the liquid dry with natron. Adding charms and rapping the body in a cloth like rap.

Long ago in about 5000 BC to 6000 BC, Hunters and food gatherers traveled to the Nile river. The Nile river is a river that flows through upper and lower Egypt. It is still the longest river ever. Many people relied on the Nile. They Hunted, grew crops, fished, and drank all out of the Nile. This is why they called it "The gift of the Nile." But that is not all, the Nile flooded every year. Unlike Mesopotamia's river which flooded every time unexpectedly, it flooded the same time every year to the same height. This made it easy to farm and take all of there crops before the flood.

Flooding for the Nile was very easy.

The floods flooded at the same time every year making them predictable .

They used geometry to measure out land

They also used irrigation to transfer water

When the nile flooded they used their spare time to work on other things

Papyrus is a reed plant that grows on nile

Mummification was a huge part of Ancient Egyptian religion and was regularly practiced on important peoples such as pharaohs. They did this because thy believed that if they didn't the pharaohs would be stuck as a wandering spirit forever. First, they would stick a long, metal hook through the nose to extract the brain. Then, they would cover the body in a salt called Natron which was known for absorbing moisture. They then filled the body with this salt and left it to sit for forty days. Once the forty days were up, they wrapped the body and placed different amulets on or inside it. These were believed to protect certain parts of the body such as the heart. Th

One of the pyramids called The Bent Pyramid was one of the first ones built but was built wrong and was bent at the top. Pyramids were supposed to be built for every pharaoh after but, the Nile river stopped flooding, and they thought the cause was because of the pharaoh, so when a pharaoh died the had a hole made in a mountain, and were placed in it.

People in ancient Egypt believed in the afterlife. That meant that they took lots of precautions to make sure people like pharaohs made it to the afterlife safely. This was a 70 day process of mummifying and preserving bodies so that they could make it over to the afterlife safety, as the ancient Egyptians thought. Doctors in Egypt also put different relics on the mummy to make sure they were healthy and safe in the afterlife. Other Egyptian builders then came together to build the dead Pharaoh a giant pyramid where their body would be laid to rest. The pyramid was not hollow, but rather had lots of different chambers for the dead Pharaoh.

The eygptains actually believed that there pharaoh was the sun of the sun god Ra and they had to build huge pyramids for then so they could have a great after life. In mummification we learned all about how they put special sculptors in the wrap of the mummies. They did this because they believed that they would need them in the afterlife. That is what I learned about religion in social studies.

Egyptians worshiped more than 1000 gods. Pharaohs were believed to be the son of the sun god, Ra. Egyptians also believed that the after life was a hopeful place. People believed that only Pharaoh and special people could make it to the afterlife. The Egyptians mummified Pharaohs to protect their body on their way to the afterlife.
