1. She made him take an oath and then guilts him by roasting his manhood.
2. No, he gets walked over by his own wife who also questions his own masculinity.
3. Lady Macbeth thinks that a man follows through on their oaths which she believes Macbeth does not.
4. Lady Macbeth wouldn't have even married Macbeth because she is a strong independent woman who don't need no man.
5. The witches' prophecies drive the story and present Macbeth with a problem of whether or not to become king right away through murder or just wait for his time.
6. A theme developing is that in the end, something tragic will happen.

1. Lady Macbeth claims that Macbeth is not man enough to kill the king, this causes Macbeth to agree with the queen's pushing towards killing the king.
2. Macbeth represents masculinity well, because he's strong and courageous, but at the same time he remains kind and virtuous without being arrogant.
3. Macbeth has a positive outlook on masculinity, while Lady Macbeth wants to be masculine herself but views the qualities of masculinity as evil. Lady Macbeth sees masculinity as being able to do what needs to be done, no matter the cost or the effect.
4. Now, with modern day feminism, it's possible to be feminine and have a position of power, which would allow Lady Macbeth to pursue being Queen without being cruel. She would be able to kill Duncan herself instead of Macbeth in this setting.
5. They have a strong belief in the witches and prophecies which influences them to make bad decisions, in order to fulfill their destiny.
6. Tragedies start off positively and end negatively so the theme may be imminent downfall.

1. Lady Macbeth persuades her husband to murder Duncan by insulting his manhood, saying that if he doesn’t go through with the murder he isn’t a real man.
2. Macbeth arguably demonstrates the ideal picture of masculinity, he has morals, fights with honor, and knows it is wrong to commit murder especially when his duty is to protect the king.
3. Lady Macbeth’s picture of masculinity is a man who is very power hungry and who will sacrifice everything including his morals to gain more power. Macbeth is very much the opposite, he has proven to be strong in battles and a very honorable man.
4. The role Lady Macbeth plays as a wife is contrastingly different from how women normally would’ve “behaved” in their time; she is dominant and intimidating. Today, that is more common, where people in relationships aren’t defined to gender roles and either member of the relationship has a say. If Lady Macbeth wasn’t living in this period of time where women had limited roles, she would most likely take power for herself and maybe even kill her husband.
5. The play revolves around the prophecies of the three witches; therefore the supernatural influences the actions of the main characters.
6. Extreme greed can only result in evil actions.

1. She questions his manhood and threatens his masculinity.
2. Macbeth does not represent a good picture of masculinity because he is easily swayed in his decisions and not independent with his choices.
3. Her picture of masculinity is being ruthless and doing what needs to be done no matter the consequences. It differs from Macbeth's picture because he pictures it as having honor and Lady Macbeth's picture doesn't have this aspect.
4. Lady Macbeth might have killed her husband and take power for herself.
5. The witches prophecy have caused two main characters to plan to take power by killing the king.
6. Macbeth is a yes man, because he is going along with what people are telling him to do

1. Lady Macbeth questions Macbeth upon his ambitions in effort to persuade him to kill Duncan.
2. No, because Macbeth is easily persuaded. This makes Macbeth be viewed as weak, something that a man would not be characterized as.
3. Her view of masculinity is getting what you want no matter going against moral values. As with Macbeth's view, he has a strong conscience and morality.
4. If the story was set in 2018, lady MacBeth wouldn't need her husband to kill Duncan, she would do it herself. Most of her inner thoughts would be spoken out loud.
5. The witches are viewed as credible, and proceed to tell Macbeth his "fate" of becoming the king. This leads to the act of killing Duncan.
6. A developing theme would be that Macbeth is not as courageous as he appeared earlier in the play.

1. Call out his flaws, such as masculine, weak, ambitionless.
This persuades him to prove his wife wrong and show how powerful he can and will be.
2. He did show a definite amount of masculinity and character when he states you should set an example that will not hurt yourself in the aftermath. This masculinity is lost when he influenced to do what he said he was against.
3. Taking what is desired and killing whomever is in the way. Macbeth's perspective is different in the sense he would rather be loyal and in favor with high ranking people that are for sure in power rather than maybe himself being in higher power.
4. Lady Macbeth would go after the crown by herself and not need to persuade her husband to do it.
5. It causes the mindset of the characters to change and their deeds to follow that mind set.
6. That power is very important and that the achievement of it is a high priority.

1. Lady Macbeth persuades her husband to murder Duncan by explaining that it is not a very big deal. If you look at the big picture, killing someone isn't that bad.
2. No, Macbeth does not represent a good picture of masculinity. He doesn't have the strength in himself to do certain things, like kill a man.
3. Lady Macbeth views masculinity as being able to do what you need to do. The consequences shouldn't matter.
4. Lady Macbeth would have had more power in a later time period. That power would allow her to pursue the throne, rather than relying on her husband to man up and take it.
5.
6.

1. Lady Macbeth persuades Macbeth to kill Duncan by being confrontational, questioning his manhood, and tell him her plan. She states that if he can't go through with the murder he will not be a man.
2. Yes, Macbeth is a good representation of masculinity because he is a strong warrior but with a good moral character since his goodness is what's preventing him from killing the king.
3. Lady Macbeth's idea of masculinity is a man who can set aside his feelings to do what needs to get done no matter how ruthless, while Macbeth's idea of masculinity has more to do with good character.
4. Lady Macbeth would be a warrior like Macbeth if the story was set in modern times. She would not be trying to make her husband kill the king; she would do it herself so she could become ruler. She wouldn't have to live her life and desires through her husband.
5. In act 1, mysticism and the supernatural is responsible for the entire story of Macbeth. The witches bring their prophecy to Macbeth which sets everything in motion from Macbeth's letter to his wife, his wife's diabolical plan, and Macbeth plotting to become king.
6. Theme: Greed and desire for power will bring nothing but evil and corruption.
