the majority of people revise for 2-5 hours at home and get Bs on average, most of them also do essay based subjects

We found that most students used exam papers, mind-maps and a variation of revision apps to revise.

On average, students revised for more than 4 hours a week, dependent on the A-level they took.

Most students consider the homework they are set as revision.

it was easy to get lots of answers that are measurable, and it was easy to make and there were no access problems, it was anonymous to protect privacy, it also was consistent and therefore reliable and was objective

The method was very practical as it displayed all results in a simple, easy to understand manner for the target population.

It didn't break any ethical boundaries as the confidentiality of all participants was respected, and they all consented to being a part of the survey.

Quantitative data was received and was able to be generalised to the rest of the students at the college. Subjective.

60% do either mind maps or flashcards however only 10% do practice questions. Most people prefer to revise on there own. 60% of people studied at home however only 30% studied at college. As well as most people prefer using online resources compared to books and text book.

the answers were preset so some people may not fit into any of the groups and people may not be telling the truth and giving socially acceptable answers (invalid)

The data received was limited as some options were not relevant to the target population. We cannot ensure that the results were valid, since we cannot rely on the honesty of the sample. Some questions may have been worded in a way some participants cannot understand. Demand characteristics are a possibility, as participants may want to give the answers that they think we are looking for

The highest proportion of people that revised were between 3-4 hours a week, most people who took our survey studied Psychology. From our survey the most common method of revision was mind maps. Lastly most students who took our survey are currently achieving a B grade at Alevel and spent roughly 11-15 hours in Shrewsbury college-

Strength:

We had a range of questions from multiple choice.
Clear format which made it easy for people to respond.
Not everyone who answered did Alevels
Was anonymous so people may not feel the need to act or change their persona

Limitations

Grades did not include courses outside Alevel
Small sample size
Results may not be representative enough of first and second years
Was not enough data to make correlation and justify findings

validity concern (people may have given ideal answers)

for example lying about the amount of hours they revise a week. this affects validity

could have joke answers submitted which aren't appropriate

Practical-Didn't take long, didn't cost anything, Easy to acess

A limitation may be that there was not a lot of options for example we didn't add the other option. As well as people may have different views of what revising actually is.
