In the Cold War the US was on the non-communist and the Soviet Union is one the communist side. And in the Vietnam War the US was also on the non-communist side and the Soviet Union was also on the communist side. The US helped South Vietnam because they were non-communist and the Soviet Union helped North Vietnam because they were communist.  The Cold War is all about the communist against the non-communist. That is why the Vietnam War is a part of the Cold War. This relates to the war going on right now in Ukraine. We are helping Ukraine by giving them weapons and China is helping Russia.
