They also struggled to make sure they were disciplining their kids correctly. Jim and Cindy's son, Brandon struggles with drinking and gambling. The twins also face challenges in fitting in as they're not from California (they're from Minnesota). Because of this the "rich" life-style was very new to them. They were pressured to fit the Hollywood look -skinny with designer clothing and accessories. Next, there is dating issues- Brenda ends up dating Dylan who is Brandon's best friend (Brenda's brother). Lastly, Brenda and Brandon's dad; Jim is a fund and business manager and manages Dylan (Brenda's- boyfriend, Brandon's -best friend) trust found because Dylan doesn't have a good relationship with his parents. Brenda: angry, mean and harsh sometimes but always true to herself. Brenda forced Brandon out his comfort zone which often ended up in them getting in trouble.

Brandon: was a very daring person but knew when to draw the line. More caring and determined then Brenda.

However as a 21st century teen my family dynamic does not have as much communication as the Walsh's family. The teens in my family don't tend to communicate our problems to our parents or go to them for support. My siblings and I tend to lean on each other rather than our parents. The mother is a homemaker and after arriving in Beverly Hills she takes on the role of ensuring that her children are able to succeed in a new environment. She does not work but to keep herself going and not always having to stay at home she volunteers at a recycling centre and takes up gardening after she starts to arrive in Beverly Hills with her family. The father works and provides for his family to ensure that their kids' futures will always come first.  The two siblings Brenda and Brandon have a duty in the household of helping out their mother when she needs it for dinner or laundry. Other than that the parents said that their children's main role in the family is to put schooling first as a main priority.
