As a teacher what speaks to me is that we need to allow students to be who they are and not take away from their thinking. We may be in the midst of a revolutionary person and not even know it. We have to encourage children to be the change they want to see in the world and allow them to be who they are meant to be.

Older generations ask us for help and say that we are the generation that is going to change things. Imagine what we could change if we were taught how to voice our opinions, advocate for what is right, and truly stand up for the greater good. The "I AM" was my biggest takeaway. Helping students to find their "I AM" and engaging them in activities to allow them to learn about themselves and what they value. We can have self-knowledge, but taking ACTION is where the "I AM" becomes revolutionary. Sometimes immediate action is not necessary, but having the confidence and motivation to take action when the time arises is prudent. But the Rosa Parks of the world -- who silently protest -- have a large place in "fighting the good fight" too. Sometimes we have to say it out loud over and over until it becomes a part of us. For example;

The word "unafraid" stuck out to me most. At one point in the video, the speaker says "imagine being unafraid to let the world know your true intentions... being unafraid to go against the grain". UNAFRAID. Fear is something that creeps in slowly to many parts of life and likes to stay awhile. Fear can hold people back from owning their true identity or fighting for what they believe in. I now feel compelled to let go of those fears. To stand up for my values and make positive change by letting those around me know my truest self.
