Women's Role

The flapper changed attitudes of young women because they embraced the new styles and urban attitudes. Also many young women because assertive. Women were still limited to freedom because double-standard granted men sexual freedom over women. Women's roles at work changed in the workplace because women were able to support their families financially and college graduates were given opportunities for professions.
Women were earning wages but a few were managerial jobs and women were paid less than men.

Economic Boom

The automobile changed Americans lives because it made the construction of paved roads made for driving in all weathers. Route 66 made a route for people to be able to travel to Chicago to California. The automobile also made gas stations, repair shops, garages, motels, tourist camps, and shopping centers. The demand for railroads were less because now people could travel by car and it would lost less.
Airplanes began carrying mail for the post office. Flights were soon a type of transportation and with the development of weather forecasting, planes began carrying radios and navigational instruments. Transatlantic flights helped promote cargo and commercial airlines.
Americans owned about 40 percent of the worlds wealth from 1920-1929. The average income for Americans rose by 35 percent from $522 to $705. Gasoline powered the economic boom but electricity also transformed America. American factories used electricity to run their machines. The development of alternating electrical current made it so electricity could travel longer distances. Cities were now getting power but farm people were still lacking power.
