Audio Lingual method
Audio Lingual method
This approach to learning is similar to the Direct Method, in that the lesson takes place entirely in the target language.
The Audio-lingual Method was widely used in the 1950s and 1960s, and the emphasis was not on the understanding of words.

Total Physical Response
Total Physical Response
Focuses on the use of authentic language and on asking students to do meaningful tasks using the target language. The teacher introduces the topic and gives the students clear instructions on what they will have to do at the task stage and might help the students to recall some language that may be useful for the task.

Direct Method This method is based in the student pronunciation, they can't use their native language. The teacher has to make the students speak and also she can read or make sentences naturally for the student to understand what the teacher is saying, because it would be a better learning and understanding for the student.

Communicative Language Teaching

Background
It was the theories of Noam Chomsky in the 1960s, focusing on competence and performance in language learning, which led to the teaching of communicative language, but the conceptual basis for CLT. The increase in CLT in the 1970s and 1980s was partly in response to the lack of success with traditional methods of language teaching.

Definition:
Language students environments that use the CLT technique, learn and practice the language of the form of deformity, through the interaction between them and the instructor.

Principal Objective:
According to CLT, the objective language teaching is the ability to communicate in the target laguage
CLT also focuses on the teacher being a facilitator, rather than on instructure.

Grammar Translation
Background
The grammar–translation method originated from the practice of teaching Latin. In the early 1500s, Latin was the most widely studied foreign language due to its prominence in government, academia, and business. As a result, textbooks were essentially copied for the modern language classroom
Principles and goals
There are two main goals to grammar–translation classes. One is to develop students' reading ability to a level where they can read literature in the target language.

SILENT WAY METHOD
SILENT WAY METHOD
Is also called as an aim of the teacher to stay as much as possible in silence, in order to teach the students to speak without help or teacher's guide. NO use is made of the mother tongue.

Advantages and Disadvantages of SIlent Way Method:
(+) Students feel comfortable and they being active during the class.
(-) Students may not understand the materials because of teachers less explain.

Some activities that you can use to develope in this method are:
- Copy the words on the board.
- Count the numbers or words on the board loudly.
- Use colored sticks to practice words or numbers.
The Silent Way
The Silent Way
Sometimes the teacher does not need to speak, It pushes the kids without stress in to doing the communicating for you. If you're interested then lok up "The Silent Way" (Caleb Gattegno).

The founder figure of CLL was Charles Curran, an American Jesuit priest, whose work in Counselling Learning (a general learning approach based on Rogerian counselling ideas and practices) was applied to language learning.

This method integrates translation so that the students would disassociate language learning with risk taking. It's a method that is based on English for communication and is extremely learner-focused. Although each course is unique and student-dictated. The key idea is that the students determine what is to be learned, so the teacher is a facilitator and provides support.
CLL differs from other methods by which languages are taught. It’s based on an approach modeled on counseling techniques that alleviate anxiety, threat and the personal and language problems a person encounters in the learning of foreign languages.
