According to Readingrockets.org, students who struggle with these phonological awareness skills and also specifically phonemic awareness skills indicate that they will struggle with reading compared to their peers.

Teachers need to help motivate students who may be struggling as readers so that they don't disengage from the reading lessons, feel bad about themselves, and give up on their reading skills.
