         <description><![CDATA[<div>Is the overarching set of skills for the foundation to develop reading skills. <br>These skills include being able to manipulate parts of a word, count syllables, and navigate onsets and rimes.<br>-A student with phonological awareness early on is able to hear syllable groupings in words.<br>-Later on, students should be able to move onto rhyming words. <br>If a student doesn't have an understanding of how speech sounds works, then that student would have difficulty understanding how to read.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Having all of the foundational skills of understanding the parts of the English language is necessary into being able to become a strong reader. <br>According to Readingrockets.org, students who struggle with these phonological awareness skills and also specifically phonemic awareness skills indicate that they will struggle with reading compared to their peers. <br>Anything to avoid students struggling with reading early on is important so that they don't already feel unconfident in such a vital skill. </div>]]></description>

These lessons could be short ones about rhyming, calling out the first sound in a word, breaking words apart, etc. Reading books with large print so that students can see you read things through and what strategies to use. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Students who may be struggling with reading because of a reading disability still need support from their teacher. Teachers need to help motivate students who may be struggling as readers so that they don't disengage from the reading lessons, feel bad about themselves, and give up on their reading skills. Students who have difficulty reading have lower self-esteem, so it is important for teachers to help remind them of all of their other strengths in and out of the classroom. </div>]]></description>
