         <title>Candy Game</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Materials needed: a jar of coloured candies (both M&amp;Ms or Skittles works well!)</div><ol><li>Each student will be asked to take as many candies as they want and keep the candy/candies. (You can set a limit e.g. 1-5, to make sure the time length of the game is under control and there is enough candies for the whole group)</li><li>Have everyone sit in a circle.</li><li>Write down the colour category on the blackboard. The colour of the candies will be categorised as the following: <br>Red -- family<br>Blue -- hobbies<br>Yellow -- favourite song or singing group<br>Green -- friends<br>Purple -- favourite book or movie</li><li>Announce the instructions:<br>Students must tell the group a fun fact according to the category of the candy/candies they have.<br>For example, for a student who has a red candy, he/she has to tell a fact about his/her family.</li><li>Give everyone 3 minute to think of something to share according to the colour of the candies they have got..</li><li>Start the game by having all the tutors have one of each colour of the candies and tell their own fun facts first.<br><br><br></li></ol>]]></description>

         <title>&#39;Guess what I like?&#39;</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<ol><li>Each tutor have to write a statement about themselves on a piece of paper.<br>The statement can be related to their hobbies, their families and there is no limit on it.<br>For example, statements like 'I have never been in a love relationship', 'my favourite food is durian', 'I have six-pack', or 'I can play a guitar'.</li><li>Stick the papers on the blackboard so everyone can see it clearly.</li><li>Divide the students into groups, ask them to pair up the statements with the tutors as a team and give some reason behind their answers.</li><li>Listen to the answers for all the groups.</li><li>Each tutor will be taking their own paper back.</li><li>Do a round of self-introduction and explain further on the statements. (Maybe to prove the statements in front of the students such as by playing a song with a guitar, etc.) Have someone jot down the marks each group get at the same time.</li><li>The group with a higher point get the treats.</li></ol><div><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ol><li>Have everyone (including the tutors) sit in a circle with the fingers on their left hand spread up.</li><li>Everyone have to tell the group something they have never done before by starting the sentence&nbsp; with 'never have I ever...' one by one.<br>For example, 'never have I ever lost my phone' or 'never have I ever made a dessert'.</li><li>Put a finger down every time you hear a sentence that is describing something you have done before.</li><li>The last person who still have finger(s) holding up wins and gets a treat.</li></ol>]]></description>

         <title>Vocabulary game</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<ol><li>Have everyone (including or excluding the tutors) stand in a circle.</li><li>Come up with a topic and each person has to come up with a vocab related to the topic. The topic can be anything.<br>For example, if the topic is 'the Beach', everyone have to come up with vocabularies such as 'sand', 'sea', 'people', 'sun', etc.</li><li>Participants get kicked out pf the game and has to sit down when:</li></ol><ul><li>Their words have been mentioned by someone else before.</li><li>They cannot come up with a&nbsp; word in 3 seconds.</li><li>The word does not follow the topic.</li></ul><div><br></div><div>The last one standing wins a treat.</div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>Association game</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<ol><li>Have the group (including or excluding the tutors) stand in a circle.</li><li>Choose a participant and ask him/her say a random word loud.</li><li>The next player has to quickly say a word that has connection to the previous word. Other players can challenge freely by raising their hands after someone has said their words if they do not agree the word has connection with the previous word. Everyone votes on whether to allow it or not.</li><li>Participants get kicked out pf the game and has to sit down when:</li></ol><ul><li>Their words have been mentioned by someone else before.</li><li>They cannot come up with a  word in 3 seconds.</li><li>Someone has challenged on the word and the vote does not pass.</li></ul><div>The game goes on until only one player is standing.</div><div><br></div><div>For example, one sequences of words can be:</div><div>Swim</div><div>Summer</div><div>Ice-cream</div><div>Milk</div><div>Cereal</div><div>Breakfast</div><div>Eggs</div><div>Cake</div><div>Birthday</div><div>Balloon</div><div>Party</div><div>, etc.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Connecting words</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<ol><li>Find an English magazine or newspaper and cut out about 40 words ensuring you have a balance of parts of speech,stick them onto a sheet of paper in no particular order. (Just like the picture below.)</li><li>Divide students into groups of up to four.</li><li>Give out copies of the sheets.</li><li>Give them 5 minutes (depending on level and complexity of task) to create&nbsp; one sentence with three words, one sentence with four words, etc., depending on level.<br><br>Sentences may be like this:<br><strong>3 words</strong> - Radio is free.<br><strong>4 words</strong> - Most parents are happy.<br><strong>5 words</strong> - Cows enjoy politics in April.</li><li>Have them share their sentences to the class.<br><br></li></ol>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ol><li>Draw a noughts and crosses grid on the blackboard. Write number 1– 9 in the corner of each square.</li><li>Divide the group into two teams. One team is X and the other O.</li><li>Decide on the topic of the questions you will ask – they can questions about something you have taught the class about (good for revision!).</li><li>In turn each team decides which square they want to nominate.</li><li>The tutors ask a question. If the team get it right their symbol is written in that square.</li><li>The first team to get a line of three symbols in any direction across the grid is the winner.</li></ol><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ol><li>Arrange chairs in the classroom so that everyone is sitting in a circle.</li><li>Give instructions like:<br>- Everyone who has a brother change seats.<br>- If you live in a flat or house with an even number change seats<br>-If you are wearing glasses change seats<br>- Everyone with pony tie change seats<br><br>Instructions can be graded so that even students with mixed English abilities can play – using colours, clothes, family etc.</li><li>Those who fit the description must stand and change seats, the others remain seated.</li><li>After a few turns, remove a chair at each instruction, so that one person does not manage to get a seat and they are out – they could then give the next instruction.</li></ol><div>The last student remaining is the winner.</div><div><br></div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>Adding words</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<ol><li>Write a phrase on the board. </li><li>The students have to take turns to add extra words (at least one word) to make it into a longer and longer sentence.The trick is that it must always remain a coherent sentence. No words can be removed although they can be moved around to change the order. </li></ol><div><br>* You can teach the students how to generate ideas by using Wh- questions (When? Where? What?Which? Who? How?) before you start the game. (Click the link for details)<br><br></div><div>For example:<br>the old man<br>I saw the old man.<br>I saw the old man yesterday.<br>I was in town when I saw the old man yesterday.<br>I was working in town when I saw the old man yesterday.<br>I was working in town when I saw the deaf old man yesterday.<br>I was working in town when I saw the deaf old man in the shop yesterday.<br>I was working in the town where my sister lives when I saw the deaf old man in the shop yesterday.<br>... and so on.<br><br></div>]]></description>
