In February 1917, workers from factories on the right bank of Neva called a strike. The government was called in troops and discarded the Duma. The striking workers and the soldiers formed the Petrograd Soviet and The Tsar was forced to abdicate. The February revolution saw the fall of the monarchy.

22nd February - Lockout took place at a factory on the right bank.

23rd February - Fifty Factories called a strike. (In many factories, women led the strikes)

24th and 25th February - Demonstrators came back after being dispersed.

26th February - Demonstrators returned in streets of left bank.

•There was a river named Neva. On it's right bank was where the worker's quaters',factories and industries situated and in the left bank was where the winter palace, fashionable areas and the place where the Duma met

•it was winter and food wasn't that available for the workers quaters'

•22 February there was a lockout and workers went for the strike,women led these strikes and now this day is known as International Women's day

•25 February the first Duma was suspended and acquainted another Duma later on it was also removed and acquainted the third Duma.

on 2nd march the tsar relinquishes his power leading the leaders of the duma and soviet leaders formed a provisional government to run the country.

On 24th October Uprising against the provisional government begins. The city was controlled by the Military Revolutionary Committee. The Bolsheviks gained power. The October Revolution was led by Lenin and Trotskii and the masses who supported these leaders. It gave the beginning of Lenin's rule over the Soviet, with the Bolsheviks under his guidance.

The Military Revolution Committee was led by Trotsky.

The Prime Minister ordered the arrest of Bolshevik leaders in October, this led to an armed uprising in Petrograd on 25th October 1917.

The revolution was led by the Bolsheviks who occupied the government buildings on 25th October.

Bolsheviks later went on to become the Communist Party of Soviet Union. The new Government was led by Vladimir Lenin.

After the October revolution new uniforms were introduced for the army, houses were given according to the family requirements, land was declared as social property and the peasants were able to seize the property from the nobility.

The goal of this revolution was to create a communist society. Events in the fall, led by the left bank party of socialists controlled the government. The Bolsheviks were very unhappy with the government and started to spread calls for a military uprising.
