The Contents of My Desk by Kenn Nesbitt

I chose this poem because sometimes I'm really lazy and not organized, so when my mother tells me to go get something from my room I forget and when she reminds me I don't know where it is because my room is unorganized.

The poet titled this poem "The Contents of My Desk" most likely because the boy in the poem has so much stuff in his desk which is the contents of his desk. The reader can tell that the poem is written in humorous form because the poem is very silly, it doesn't have a theme, it doesn't teach a lesson, it doesn't express feelings about something or someone, or tell a story.

I Washed Our Dad's Car by Kenn Nesbitt

I chose this poem because I've washed the car with my big brother, Boris. The first and only time I've washed the car with him was when I was 7 years old. At first, I was watching T.V., then I went outside to play. I wanted to go to a friend's house, but I couldn't because I had to ask my parents permission, but they were sleeping. So, I found myself washing the car with my brother. When I told my mother, she gave me ten dollars and told me to keep it up.

The phrase, "I washed our dad's car with my sister" is important because if you read the last lines, and go deeper in your thinking like I did, then you'll realize that when he said he used his sister to wash his dad's car, he used her like a sponge. That's the reason why she got mad, and complained to their dad, "Why can't he just use a sponge?" The poet includes line 2 most likely to show how dirty the car was. So, the car needed to be washed with soap, water and a sponge.

Nicknames by Kenn Nesbitt

I chose this poem because a lot of people I know call me nicknames, sometimes I'm called Esther, and sometimes my mother calls me french names. Most of the time I feel fine when I'm called by my nickname, but sometimes I'm don't.

Lines 11 and 12 are included in the poem because when Fred says they're more annoying then I'd ever guess. He was saying they're annoying since they're not even close to saying his name. The first name in the poem is Elizabeth, and the other names are nicknames you can make from the name Elizabeth, but his real name is Fred. The picture in the poem shows all of Fred's family members calling him nicknames. He is leaning on his arm with a very frustrated and annoyed look on his face when they called him nicknames.

Sometimes we go to water parks or the Fieldstone pool to cool ourselves off. Every time we do go to water parks or the pool it's always hot and the sun is shining.

Ugly Couple by Kenn Nesbitt

I chose this poem because once I heard somebody talk about there parents to their friends. Her friends said, "Your parents are like super rude." The girl responded back, "Whatever, I love my parents no matter what." I think that was a very sweet thing to say.

The message in the poem is people may hate your family, but you should love them no matter what. When I read the poem I felt amazed because most people hate their family either because of their looks, the way speak, or what their family does to them. But the child in this poem loves their parents even though like the poem said, "Mister Horrible Head and Miss Ugliness Face are the ugliest couple alive."

I chose to write about Operation Christmas Child. Operation Christmas Child is a program where you pack shoe boxes for kids in other countries. At church we had the program and for a snack we had pizza. I had 3 slices of pizza. I also had a cookie. Before my group and I got to pack a shoe box we made a chocolate and vanilla cake. When it was our turn I saw a table for the boys to pack shoe boxes and for the girls. There were so many toys. To end the fun night we got to play a game.
