The Story of Sun Valley Civilization

Once upon a time, nestled between two tall mountains, there was a beautiful valley called Sun Valley. Long ago, the valley was just a quiet stretch of land with forests, rivers, and animals. But one day, a group of families arrived, looking for a place to settle.

The families built small wooden huts and started farming the rich, fertile soil. They grew corn, beans, and squash. Over time, more people came to Sun Valley. They built roads to connect their homes and created a marketplace where they traded goods like pottery, tools, and cloth.

As the population grew, the people of Sun Valley worked together to create rules and leaders to keep things organized. They chose a wise woman named Lila as their first leader. Lila encouraged everyone to learn new skills. Some people became builders, others became teachers, and a few studied the stars to make calendars.

One of the most impressive achievements of Sun Valley was their irrigation system. They dug canals to bring water from the mountains to their farms. This allowed them to grow more food and support the growing population.

But Sun Valley's people didn’t just work—they celebrated, too! They held festivals to thank the sun for its light and the earth for its bounty. During these festivals, they sang songs, danced, and shared stories about their ancestors.

Sun Valley became a thriving civilization where people worked together, shared ideas, and built a community they were proud of.

Questions:

What was the name of the valley where the families settled?

What crops did the people of Sun Valley grow?

Why was Lila chosen as a leader?

What was the purpose of the irrigation system in Sun Valley?

How did the people of Sun Valley celebrate their success?

What do you think helped Sun Valley become a successful civilization? Why?

Activity 2

What was the valley like before the families arrived?

How did the population of Sun Valley grow over time?

Why did the people of Sun Valley build roads?

What role did the marketplace play in the community?

How did Lila encourage the people to develop new skills?

What did the builders and teachers contribute to Sun Valley?

Why was it important for the people to study the stars and make calendars?

What challenges do you think the people of Sun Valley might have faced when digging the canals?

How did working together help Sun Valley become a thriving civilization?

If you lived in Sun Valley, what role or job would you like to have, and why?
