Earlier in the play Walter was very focused on his dream, opening a liquor store. He lost a lot of money trying to complete his dream, and he upset his family. All throughout the novel we see Lena, or Mama, always caring and talking about her plant. Her plant is a reminder of her dream to have a garden to care to. The dream didn’t come true, but she has her priorities straight, and that is to care for her family first. Thus, her values are her family, then her own desires

Selfishness got us followin' the wrong direction…" (Walter for the longest time only cared about making money and he used Benetha’s school money towards his business, an act of selfishness. He valued money above his own family heritage.)

I wanted to stick with the Black and White theme, to represent the play, both the black and white film, and also the main conflict that was faced throughout the novel: Racism. Each post is neatly organized into columns and blocks, to represent the skyscrapers of Chicago (Which the story takes place) and to match the background too, which also shows skyscrapers.
