We were dirty."<br><br>This quote conveys that women not born into regal or high-class families were often employed as maids, or house keepers. From a young age, they were told that they were not good enough or ineligible for anything really. Their parents weren't in the picture and they were forced to work day in and day out, and were given the impression by society that sleeping or crying (normal functions in general) were entirely unacceptable.</div>]]></description>
