The hero of Ukraine Borys Yevhenovych Paton (Ukrainian: Борис Євгенович Патон). He was born on November 27, 1918 in Kiev, and is the long-term chairman of the National sciences of Ukraine. He is in the family of a famous scientist and founder of Paton Institute of Electric Welding, Professor Evgeny Oscarovich Paton. In 1941, he completed Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and became an engineer. Paton joined the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine on November 18, 1958 and is the first person to have been awarded the title of the Hero of Ukraine.
