I understand your concern with thinking the kids will become to reliant on technology teaching them and not you. I think you can minimize that fear by using little technology on your classroom and not becoming to reliant on it. You can also use technology that allows you to be in it. like YouTube videos. you can make your own videos and your students can learn through technology but also through you.

Maria,
First off, super cute background! Love the flowers!! :))

I know that it is hard to figure out how much is too much. It's also hard to keep your student's focus, especially as an elementary school teacher. I think the best way to prevent students from losing focus is to have strong classroom management skills and to keep students involved. Ask questions, have them teach other students how to do part of the assignment... Just get your students involved! the more they have to do, the more focus they have!

From my own experience, when technology is the main source of teaching, I pay more attention to the teacher when they finally do give their own instruction. I think that as long as you do not completely rely on technology in the classroom then this should not be a problem.

Maria,

I definitely understand your concern. Using technology in the classroom could lead to the students not wanting to focus on you when teaching. I think that you can prevent this by making certain times technology time and not completely relying on technology. The students will understand that this is their only time to play the games or use the technology. They won't be wondering when they will get to play games more.
