I think you can minimize that fear by using little technology on your classroom and not becoming to reliant on it. I know that it is hard to figure out how much is too much. It's also hard to keep your student's focus, especially as an elementary school teacher. I think the best way to prevent students from losing focus is to have strong classroom management skills and to keep students involved. Ask questions, have them teach other students how to do part of the assignment... I definitely understand your concern. Using technology in the classroom could lead to the students not wanting to focus on you when teaching. I think that you can prevent this by making certain times technology time and not completely relying on technology. The students will understand that this is their only time to play the games or use the technology.
