A: As a medical technologist, I found it difficult to explain complex medical terms in a simple way that patients could understand. Working in a fast-paced hospital environment made it challenging to ask questions or clarify instructions without feeling rushed or interrupting busy staff. Misunderstandings sometimes occurred, which could affect the quality of patient care or lab results. Overall, balancing professionalism with clear and compassionate communication was a constant learning process.

Q2: What strategies employed in overcoming the communication challenges or struggles?

A: To overcome these challenges, I focused on improving my active listening skills to better understand instructions and patient concerns. I made it a habit to ask polite and concise questions when I needed clarification, ensuring I did not interrupt others unnecessarily. To explain medical information more clearly, I practiced using simple language and analogies that patients could relate to. These strategies helped me communicate more effectively, build better relationships at work, as well as efficient patient care.
