After the storm, we found out the tornado had destroyed some houses only two blocks away from where we lived. We were safe and our house was not affected. It was around 7:00pm when an announcement was made over the PA system in the park. "Due to an intense line of Thunderstorms moving into the area, we are closing  the park early. Heavy rain and intense lighting has been reported, including 40 mph winds. Please exit the park. We apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you." I remember the walk back to the hotel. It was very hot and humid that evening. Lighting seemed to be going off non-stop all around us. It was very neat to see, but a bit freaky too. We knew this was going to be a big storm. Once inside our room, we waited out the storm. I remember the flashes and the heavy sheets of rain pounding and washing over the windows. It was intense! My Dad checked the weather radar or whatever it was called, and there was a HUGE storm. I LOVE storms, so it was crazy and slightly scary & cool at the SAME time. It was awesome. And chaotic.
