You can choose to have them reach in and feel it, to play 20 questions, or to give a series of clues to help them guess!!

Have students work together to build a mascot from common, everyday objects. Their mascot should symbolize the most important things they know about a topic you're studying. For a wierd twist, have them trade mascots with another group to try to explain what each mascot represents. The conversations will be rich, creative, and awesome!

When there is broad disagreement about what the answer to a question is, have students decide on what they think the answer is, then have them vote. Display the results. Then, have them wander around, discussing and debating. Students should explain themselves clearly and should change their minds if they hear a good reason. When they are finished, take the vote again. If they collaborated well, the truth should spread throughout the class!

For each student, identify a gift or talent. Then, think about how you can put that talent to use in the classroom. This helps students know that you value their unique skills, and also it gives you lots of free labor. You can get started here: https://bit.ly/OPENtheirGIFTS
