         <description><![CDATA[<div>I think the easiest (read: laziest) way of challenging students in ELA would be to give them a bigger book/a classic text. A book on a lower readability level can be just as complex as a Dickens's novel. <em>Of Mice and Men</em> is a short text, but could be just as rigorous as <em>Huckleberry Finn</em><strong><em>. </em></strong>The important thing is giving students questions to wrestle with and chew on.<br><br>I want to be very proactive about encouraging growth mindset in my classroom. I love what was said about struggle not equaling failure, but equaling learning. I was also a gifted student and this is something I still have a hard time accepting for myself. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I've had a few students who are "twice exceptional" - both gifted and with an exceptionality (e.g., dyslexia for one, attention for another). They didn't show up as gifted on the screening because  <br>of their exceptionalities, but we (my team of teachers) made the proper accommodations anyway. The tests used to identify students are often limiting at best, biased at worst.</div>]]></description>
