I was easily distracted and uncomfortable watching the movie because I could not understand what they were saying. I never really became interested like I wanted to keep watching. I think this is because of the language barrier. However, I kept thinking to myself about children in classrooms. We expect them to pay attention to us but in some cases, they can't understand what we are saying. I was going to watch a movie in Spanish but I decided to go with Chinese because I know some Spanish. I wanted to get the full experience of what my students get that don't speak any language but their own. I feel sad because I felt lost trying to understand what was going on and knowing that these children are trying to learn academically and a new language is hard to comprehend on its own.
