My Dream by Anonymous

In the poem, it talks about a dream someone had. I like this poem because the word choice was able to help me create imagery in my brain. This short poem reminded me about when I was little and I had dreams like these.
I think that the form of this poem is lyrical. I think this because, the poem has a rhyme scheme and therefore, it also has a rhythm. This poem could also be a humorous poem because the poem is a little silly. The images that were created in my brain when reading this poem were a bit unrealistic. Of course none of this could happen in real life. When reading the 2nd and 3rd line I imagined a girl sitting between two trees with giant pork-pies. The trees had red apples hanging from the tree's branches. Lines 4-6 painted a giant clock striking twenty minutes to six while a green slimy frog hopped onto the girl's knee. While all that happened, her nose turned into a big block of Stilton cheese. Lines 7 and 8 showed me the girl ask the frog in a quaint voice to lend her an eighteenpence but he just took a bite of her knee!

My Mom Drives Me Everywhere by Kenn Nesbitt

This poem reminds me of how I need my parents to drive me everywhere, and how we are always in a rush. I can't drive myself yet, so I need someone else to get me where I need to go. One time I really needed to go somewhere so, we were in a real rush. After that, my mom told me that she would never drive me anywhere again. Of course she did not really mean it.
When I read this poem, the mood/tone that I feel is a little silly. So that means it is a humorous poem. The last two lines were very funny and you can tell the poet did this on purpose. The poet includes lines 13 and 14 to show that this person could get around, but would rather get his mom to take him where he needs to go. These lines show that he is much too lazy too walk or get on a bus on his own.

I Made a New Password by Kenn Nesbitt

I liked this poem because it was a silly poem and I can relate. I forget passwords all the time. This also reminds me of how my sister likes to have privacy and I can never sneak something from her
without getting caught.
One poetic structure (form) in this poem is a hyperbole. A hyperbole is when something is exaggerated. For example, my math teacher gave me a gazillion equations to do. In the poem where it says numbers galore on line six, stanza two, there is probably not that much numbers in his password. The possible message in the poem is maybe that sometimes, you can outsmart yourself! You should be prepared before you carry out a plan. In this case, don't make a hard password that you will most likely forget!

Walking Past Winter by Jillian Tarape

What inspired me to write this haiku is the first time I saw real life Texas snow. The experience helped me create some imagery in the haiku. When I walked in the crunchy snow, it was so hard! It's more like walking on ice. But that is as close as I will ever get. I personified the wind, because the wild wind seemed to hang on to me making me shiver. Brrrrrrr!

In this poem, I wanted to express what it is like to be an American soldier and all the hardships of being one. I wanted to show that being an American soldier takes responsibility and LOTS of sacrifices. Being a soldier in the American army means dedicating your life for your country. Now, that's bravery that should be honored with great respect.
________________________________

Bright and early
Success
Glory
Responsibility
Pressure
Strong
All night long
True
I know the sacrifice
Honor
Peace
Proudly stand

I wrote this poem to show that being kind can brighten anyone's day. It feels really good to receive a nice comment, or be given a thoughtful treat. It feels even better to make someone smile because of something nice you said or did. Kindness an go a long way. All you need to do is spread it!

Thanksgiving Diamante by Jillian Tarape

What inspired me to write this diamante was none other than Thanksgiving! Since Thanksgiving is right around the corner, I thought it would be most fun to write this diamante about Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful for the things you have. It's kind of like Christmas but without the presents. You are giving the gift of being grateful! In this poem I wanted to talk about being thankful and compassionate for your friends and family. Thanksgiving is coming soon and it is almost time to celebrate!

A Little More Love by Jillian Tarape

I wanted to express in this poem that sometimes, people like me don't give enough attention to their pet. When you do not pay enough attention to your pet, they get lazy and bored. No matter how well fed or how groomed your pet is, they crave your attention and love more than anything. I was inspired by my dog, Bubbles. We keep her healthy though she seems a bit bored all the time. She does not do much. But the few times that I do play with her, she is excited and playful. Giving my dog more attention is at the top of my list of things to do now. I really hope soon my dog will become more engaged and interested in the big world around her!
