In Othello women are treated as inferior to men, unmarried women are regarded as their fathers property, in the first act Brabantio comes to the conclusion that his daughter was bewitched by the moor, which completely disregards the notion that she had free will and choose to fall in love with Othello. The other characters especially Emilia serve to do their partners dirty work, this was the stereotype during the time when the play was written. Other phrases like “use” and “purchase “ implies that they are merely property that only wishes to fulfill their owner’s desires.
