They struggle with cooking, setting up tents, and even opening a can of food. At one point, they can't open a can of pineapple because they forgot the opener.

Montmorency, the small dog, adds to the chaos. He acts like a tough dog but often causes trouble, like barking at cats or fighting with a kettle.

Throughout the trip, the narrator shares funny stories, jokes, and memories. Sometimes he also talks about history or nature in a more serious way.

After several days of rain, cold, and discomfort, the friends get tired of the journey. They decide to stop the trip in Pang Bourne and take a train back to London. They enjoy a warm dinner in a restaurant and are happy to be dry and comfortable again.

The Pundit, flustered, could not produce the book. He tried to stall by saying he had given it to a friend, but Tenali Raman saw through his lies.

Later, Tenali Raman brought a bundle to the court. He presented it to the King and explained that the Pundit had given it to him instead of the book. Inside the bundle, Tenali Raman revealed, were things that, when put together, sounded like the name of the book: Tila (sesame seeds), Kashta (dung), and Mahisha (buffalo), all tied with a Bandhanam (rope or tie).

The courtiers, including the King, were astonished by Tenali Raman's quick wit and his ability to expose the Pundit's trickery. Tenali Raman showed that by cleverly combining the meanings of the words in the so-called book's title, he could construct the very contents of the bundle itself.
