This quote stood out very strongly because it is extremely true. Through literature you can see so many emotions and the beautiful ways authors display it. Poetry and literature are such bare, vulnerable feelings and you can see every type of mood through it. There's a type of book or poem for any type of emotion or feeling you want to read about, and that is a really great thing about literature.

"Fences" by August Wilson was my favorite piece read this semester. I think it's the best example relating to my quote also. Through this story so many emotions are felt and displayed. You see sadness and hurt through Rose but you also see strength and confidence in her. Troy displays bitter emotions, as well as courage and strength. The story "Fences" will always be remembered by me for displaying so many moods.

This short story by Sandra Cisneros shows the story of a young girl and what it was like living in her neighborhood. She talks about all the things she experiences and what it feels like to live her life. This relates to my quote a lot also because this story really shows her emotions and how she feels about the place she is living. You witness her feel all different moods about her friends, her house, her family, and the community.

This poem tells the feelings of a young girl who is celebrating her 15th birthday. She explains the things that will be changing now that she is becoming a women. This relates to my quote because you see many different moods through the young girl. You can sense the feelings of changing and becoming a women. As said in my quote reading poetry is a way we can see all of peoples moods, and this poem shows that.

The mood of the young boys boss is also showed. We see many different types of emotions demonstrated in this story. This story really relates to my quote because we see all different types of moods through different characters.

"My Papas Waltz" was reading material from the first lesson of childhood. This poem relates to my quote also. As we see in the poem a young child is dancing with their father. You can see the mood of the father even though his feelings are not discussed. You can also tell the mood and emotions of the young child.

The poem by Robert Hayden, although short, shows emotion through it. I think this relates to my quote even more than some of the long stories. This very short poem shows that you do not need a lot of words or lengthy articles to show emotion and moods. You can tell the narrators mood and emotion. You can also sense the mood and emotion of the narrators father.

This particular story shows so many moods and emotions. There is also a good amount of characters, and this story shows that you can really see all different types of moods. Whether it be sadness, confusion, or happiness you encounter all of these in literature. Amy Tan showed the journey of a young girl working on discovering herself. She really showed the Jing-Mei and all of the things she went through.

"America" is another example of how a poem does not need to be long to show mans moods and emotions. This is a short poem by Claude McKay about a mans pride for his nation. This short poem shows the true feelings this man has for his country. This is a unique mood and emotion to write about. There isn't always a bunch of poems about this particular mood. Being unique really makes it relate to my quote.

Langston Hughes poems always show a great selection of moods and a great deal of some emotion. Through this poem you can feel the mood of being confused by a dream deferred. You can tell the narrators mood almost instantly. This is a beautiful thing of poetry and why we should enjoy it. Their is such a different selection of emotions and moods to write about.

It tells the story of a black man who is determined to eat at the table when company is over. You can tell the confidence in his voice, even though he is dealing with a type of racism. You can understand his story and see his point of view and how he feels about it. This particular poem shows empowering feelings, and a mans struggle with others.

Music demonstrates my quote as well. In a way music is poetry, poetry is just more structured and formal. Music also shows all the emotions and moods of man through its words. Other than poetry and music I cannot think of many other things that gives people this experience. The way anything can be expressed through music and poetry is what makes it so beautiful.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading the story and watching the events of Troys family. It demonstrated so many different emotions and helped me understand the unit of identity. I loved the plot and watching the events unfold. The characters were also a very interesting mix of people. Overall the story was very good and I’ll take what I learned from this story with me outside of this class.
